Before the year is over, Activision Blizzard may be the undisputed kingpin of the video game industry, and Modern Warfare 2 will be a big part of that exalted elevation.

The publisher has already boasted that this hotly anticipated sequel will be "the biggest entertainment launch of 2009," and one analyst has already agreed with that assessment. Call of Duty: World at War has topped 11 million copies sold in only seven months , and Modern Warfare 2 …? Infinity Ward simply wants it to be the "best fu**ing game ever." As reported by VG247 , Infinity Ward's Mark Rubin commented on the possible length of the sequel, and how they're going about creating it:

"It’s really hard to say, because it’s not done yet, it’s not balanced yet. We don’t go into it saying we need to build a 20-hour experience or a ten-hours experience. We say, ‘What’s the best fu**ing experience we can possibly deliver?’ And we craft it around that."

Rubin did say the sequel would be "bigger" than Modern Warfare , but that can be interpreted in any number of ways. The only criticism leveled at the original was the length of the single-player campaign, as it clocked in at only 4-6 hours. But the intensity of that experience remains almost unrivaled, and the stellar online multiplayer was just plain immense. At this point, we have all the faith in the world in Infinity Ward, and as much as we may want to, we have difficulty challenging Activision's confidence.

They are saying a lot these days and the game is still 5 months away…they are building the hype train really high, i hope it meets or even exceeds expectations

I've been looking forward to this for a while, hopefully it meets my high expectations. I loved the first one, and still occasionally play it.

Yup, this holiday season will be expensive to the wallet, for sure.
This will be one of about 6 games I plan to be picking up at that timeframe. Yikes!

Modern Warfare was the first FPS that I really delved into the multiplayer experience. I played Halo online a bit but it didn't do it for me. Infinity Ward has really cornered the FPS market and I have 1000% faith that modern warfare 2 will deliver. Besides, I LOVE that swagger!

It better be longer than the first Modern Warfare though, since I finished that in one sitting (like 4 and a half hours maybe).

I agree, unless they are revamping tle on the multiplayer; they should of have ample time to work on the single player experience.

The multi was good but the Short single player campaign killed this game for me. I was some mad when i finshed it almost threw my control. I'll wait and see about this one. As of right now i won't be getting it.

See,that's why COD4 is overrated.Call me old school, but I don't care for the multiplayer crap.COD4 failed to offer a good single player experience (which is why people should play games).I feel that Fall of Man was the best single player FPS this gen, even over KZ2.

For a FPS to sell well it needs to have both a good multiplayer game and a good single player game… not everyone plays online.

Mmmm I think KZ2's single-player experience definitely rivals cod's single-player. But none-the-less, looking forward to MW2, got it preordered already.

Killzone 2 is still more of a technical marvel than any cod game. Imagine what COD could be like if it was exclusive to the PS3 platform and used way more of the systems power like Uncharted 2? I personally hate multiplats. Sorry guys, game looks great, but I'll pass. I'm an exclusive only whore on my PS3. Hate games that are ports from 360. Cod4 on 360 looked way better than PS3's version. I know I have them both.

And even tho they say the ports are spot on, I have to disagree on it. You know Modern Warfare 2 is developed on the 360 and will be ported over to the PS3. That still equals poor port. Sorry guys. Flame me on this one. I'll put money down that the 360 version is the superior one.

err … i think you forget 1 platform. "PC".

cod4 on PC have the best graphic. PS3 and X360 cant beat it.

i think this will be the same with CoD : modern Warfare 2. it will look almost the same on PS3 and X360 but will look BEST on PC.

and yes, you need a good VGA. maybe about 80USD VGA to play it on 1440×900 and up. (its already higher than X360 and PS3, both maybe will only run on 720p again, like cod4)

sorry my bad english

Maybe I'm bad at fps's but COD4 took me over 8 hours to finish if i remember correctly, and the story was so good I went back and played through it several times over. And I'm embarrassed to even admit how much time I've played online, and still do.

I have total confidence that MW2 will kick ass and while Activision does sound cocky when they proclaim it will be the biggest entertainment product of 2009, I don't doubt it. COD4 was the best-selling FPS ever (according to Wiki), so this seems reasonable considering the franchise is back in the capable hands of IW (no offense to Treyarch, who did a pretty good job with WAW imo)

If you want your Modern Warfare game to have a longer campaign mode…crank up that difficulty to the highest it can go. Guaranteed to give you 4 more hrs.

KingRed

I don't want to have to turn up the difficulty for a game to make it longer. Shouldn't have to do that to get more play out of a game. OOO I got 12 hours of play now for single player campaign. Not worth it.

King James

Its Infinity Ward…they don't disappoint. All the great CoDs were made by them.

Swim_Irr
Swim_Irr

The VERY FIRST thing infinity ward needs to do is get rid of the completely WEIGHTLESS feel of just about everything in the game… i went back and played COD4 just these past couple days, and although it is a very fun game, it is the weightlessness of the game that really gets to me. After playing KZ2 and actually feeling as if i am filling bullets into real bodies, not just a hollow shell of what looks like a soldier, i don't want to have to go back to the weightless feel of COD4/5.

And how about that really floaty camera view in COD4/5??? That needs fixin'… ASAP.

@jmo_INDY_Repub
Sony probably just paid the of the filmmakers for it's product placement.

Companies do it all the time, especially Coke & Pepsi.

BTW, one of the most famous product placements was in E.T(call hooooome).
M&M's were going to do it, but for some reason, they backed out of the movie & Reeses stepped in with their "Reeses Pieces".

The rest is history……
Reeses said their sales of Reeses Pieces shot up over 40%, and all just because of E.T. being seen eating them in that one movie.

So it does work…sort of like subliminal messages, but only these these product placement items actually try to catch your eye(and that they do).

Socom Confrontation now that it is fixed and running the way it should with another massive update to fix even more in my opinion owns any fps COD. Cod can be compared as an arcade racer much like Forza 2. Where as Socom is a sim based tactical shooter as compared to GT5. Get my point?

Mag is gonna have way more meat on the bones than a simple 24 person online-run gun die respawn Call of duty shooter. Getting tired of the run gun die respawn shooters. No tactics of real world war scenarios. Socom and Mag sit distinctively on their own in that category. Now thats fun…Sorry again. Cod is an arcade shooter offering not much. And the weightless feeling of lifting a SAW in a nano second and shooting someone down like you are Clint Eastwood in a Spagetti Western is outright hilarious. Cmon people go play some KZ2. Even tho it is a respawn shooter, you at least feel like a soldier carrying a real weapon. And you gotta work for your kills. Enough said. Flame me again if you feel so. I think many of you get my point?
