It's one of our most anticipated games of the year, and we have no doubt it will be a popular title. And what good is popularity if you don't take advantage of it with a special collectors package?

According to Kotaku , "The Black Edition" of Assassin's Creed 2 will boast a "holographic signature," a 64-page leather-bound book filled with concept art and other behind-the-scenes stuff, an Ezio figurine, three in-game bonus quests, and more. That's one hell of a package but Ubisoft has confirmed that there are no current plans to release it in North America; it's only scheduled for PAL regions. For those areas, the bundle will carry a price tag of £69.99 in the UK ($115 USD) and $149.95 in Australia ($121 USD). It will launch on November 20, three days after the North American release of the game. Of course, it's highly unlikely that we won't see a limited edition of some kind; we expect it to be a variation of The Black Edition that will go on sale overseas. For those of you who love collectibles and want the most out of your favorite hobby, such packages are like catnip, aren't they? They may be pricey, but you just can't resist that tempting allure of bonus goodies…

Anyway, we'll let you know as soon as Ubisoft comes forward with the special edition Assassin's Creed 2 details for the U.S. We hope it won't be any less impressive.

Thats pretty cool, but I wish I could see a difference in the 360 version vs the PS3 version. I mean, are the only games that are going to take advantage of the PS3 only first party or the small list of loyal 3rd company parties? I would love to see companies taking advantage of the PS3 and making a game BETTER on the PS3 than the 360. I know that'd be unfair for the 360 owners but I just don't want to be getting shafted because of it also.

I'll be damned if Ezio isn't the best dressed character of this generation. I'm not one to spend over 60 on a game though. I'll have to see just how nice that figure is … if it comes to NA that is.

Wrote this reply to your post on the previous inFamous article:

Sorry bro, but i have to disagree on your stance about AC. AC is the 1st next-gen game I brought and then returned for GameStop credit. I was so excited about this game, I just KNEW it was gonna be the best next-gen game I've ever played. I was fooled. Disappointed. I lost respect for Ubisoft after that (Haze didn't help their standing with me either).

Really? Cause it's not there.

And I don't have a 'stance' on AC. I just know it's an amazing game that a lot of people think is cool to hate and feel it necessary to force their opinions on others all because they're suckers for hype.

No. its your opinion that it's an amazing game. Not a fact. Look it's ok that you think it's so great. Don't get butt hurt cause some of us don't agree. I'm curious. What did you think about Metal Gear Solid 4?

@Alienage
I'll give credit where it is due. AC executed the following things well:

-The actual cities.
-The building scaling
-The graphics
-The use of real history.

But that didn't make it fun. Pretty. Informative. But not fun. AC dropped the ball on the following:

-The combat was way too easy and felt really stiff. Altair would be so powerful that there was no incentive to be stealthy.
-The story was retarded. An aminus machine? Really?
-Although AC is known for its crowd interaction. The crowds' and the guards' AI was dumb.
-At times the game would just get frustrating because the guards would go into alert status for no reason.
-The PS3 version would freeze. A lot.
-That ending was horrendous. Just terrible.
-Did i mention that it was extremely repetitive.

I think I'm ranting, so I'll just stop there. IMO, the cons outweighed the pros for this game by far. The game seemed incomplete and rushed. Hopefully AC2 will be the game Ubisoft wanted to do originally. I'll rent it 1st this time. And only b/c I was impressed by the E3 demo.

I didn't think the story was that bad, I actually find the concept of the Animus to be quite innovative. Perhaps the execution of the story wasn't the best, but the idea was solid. It allows for a multi-era story and can easliy be used for potential sequels to take us to all sorts of different settings in a non-linear time frame.

Would be sweet if in the next iteration Desmond tricks some guy of Japanese descent into plugging into the Animus and we get to delve into the past as a ninja 🙂

Because recently they've been zoning special content for games throughout. And I'm sure that if they are getting the user rate that they are aiming to achieve then they'll spread there wings for broader genres including metal on VidZone!

Ben,

This is going to be a little off topic, but why hasn't Sony allowed some sort of application service for the ps3? I mean, I know we can download games and demos from the PSN, but how about Pandora Radio? Or other things like that?shit, we could even have a facebook app(even though you could just open the web browser)… I mean I have a web browser on my iPhone, but for most things, I just open the application made specifically for my phone. The only thing I see close to that is Life With Playstation. I think they had a fantasy football draft watcher this past year, but that's it? Is this possible for them to do? Heck, the PSP has Skype.

Why no PS3 apps?

Hmmm, I've thought about that as well, probably has to do with control and stability, Sony couldn't guarantee that some strange code might not crash the OS maybe? Plus they probably wouldn't want to allow any program to be installed for free when it might conflict with some service they could charge for. But yeah, it would be nice to be able to install some 3rd party app, if it works for iPhone, why not PS3?

They should concentrate firts in the quality of the game(framerate, texture work, not repetitive
gameplay, etc.) then thinking about wathever ultra super amazing collector editon package that i will not buy; I only want a good quality game.

Seriously. The pop-in was some of the worst I've seen in an next gen game for AC1. My friend didn't believe me until I pointed it out to him. It ruined the game for him. Feel bad now. LOL.

The US is only getting the white edition, which sucks cuz its only got 1 bonus map and a less cool figurine, whereas the Black edition is only in europe and has the cool black figurine, a conspiracy book, soundtrack, an extra bonus disk and THREE bonus maps. They really screwed the US over. And as a further slap to the face, the European Assassins Creed 2 is only playable on European systems.
