It was a definite favorite of many in 2008, and we had heard whispers of a sequel.

Now, as reported by VideoGamer , EA has confirmed that a "small team" is currently working on Mirror's Edge 2 , and senior vice-president of EA Games Europe, Patrick Soderlund, said he's excited about what DICE will churn out. Some believed the game may not have sold well enough to warrant a sequel, but Soderlund says it sold better than some may think:

"Mirror’s Edge was a risky move. It was a bold move, a very innovative and inspiring move. The game wasn’t perfect by any means. We would have liked the game to sell better even though the game has sold better than most people think. You will see another Mirror’s Edge for sure. It’s just a matter of when that time is and what we do with it. We have a small team on it and I’m excited about what we do."

Prior to this, EA CEO John Riccitiello said they wouldn't leave Mirror's Edge behind, despite the fact it fell a little short of the lofty sales expectations. This is the first official confirmation that a second title is in the works, and as far as we're concerned, we couldn't be happier. Granted, the game was short and there was a whole lot of trial-and-error involved, but due to its unique style and wonderfully implemented gameplay mechanics, we never lost interest. It was frustrating at times, certainly, but in the end, we were satisfied with our experience and we believe more people should've tried it. But hey, it's great to know the sequel is coming!

Awesome, the first was pretty good. I was actually thinking about this today, well how they need another installment and what it would be about. More first person acrobatics, very nice!

The demo for Mirror's Edge left a sour taste in my mouth. The color palette would drive me bonkers if I tried to play that game for too long. I'd consider the sequel if they change the color scheme.

I beat the first one… I will not be playing the sequel. It's like they took a great concept and strangled all of the fun right out of it.

I agree, I played the first one and half way through just finished to say I had done it. Great concept, bad execution.

Barnabee Jones hit the nail on the head. Where the heck did the fun go? Innovation doesn't automatically lead to fun.

It shoulda been third-person. I just can't imagine inFAMOUS,Uncharted,PoP,AC and all them other monkey-jump games in first-person. The fact that it was first person destroyed everything for me.

I really enjoyed the first one, so a second would be awesome.

Now I just gotta find some time to replay the first game again…

Triple the length of the game and I'll buy it.

Yeah, make it longer. I cannot pay for a game that is 5 hours long.

I loved the way the game was done to me it was an artistic type of graphics and the gameplay to me was unique. Even though the game was short I still had my share of fun with it and i still have to get the speed trial trophies.

I didn't like the 1st one. I felt sick while playing the demo so I had to stop playing it and lay down. Which means it's a good game lol ūüôā Doubt I'll get this one though.

I'm actually really excited. I'm glad that they're still going on with the franchise. The only things somewhat bad about the first game, was how most of the level designs started to seem really similar to the rest (even though it is in a totalitarian sort of paradise city)…you were put in situations where you had to fight and you couldn't run away from the fight…which sort of defeats the purpose of the parkour-style gameplay, and the story was sort of unsatisfying. They had good potential, but took "shortcuts" which sort of ruined it for me.

THE MUSIC was absolutely great. I loved the graphic-design as well. The cutscenes were unique even if they were esurance like. As long as they fix those problems in the next one and add some other parkour moves…it should be fine.

OH!! And it was also a bit short. I mean…about 2.5 hours TOTAL (w/ cutscenes)…that is pretty short right? I mean I hope they at least make the next one 7 hours total. That'd be an awesome adventure. But with that small team…hmm…maybe it's better to stick with 4 hours.

I'm wishing the best though.

My only complaint about the first one would be the difficulty curve at times, but other than that, I loved the game. It's like a diamond in the rough. It just needs to be smoothed out a bit (and made longer of course) and ME2 would be great.

I say that they make the hand to hand fighting even more cool looking, more variety in the moves. Improve the crappy shooting and make finding your path easier at times.

EDIT: It'd be cool if they added a stealth element aswell.

Make it 3rd person and it will be a better game. I hate having to try the same move over and over again because of not being able to judge the distance around the jumps. Fix those problems and make it longer and it will be worth the purchase. If you make it the same and just longer you will not be getting any of my money this time. You will only burn me once!

The first person view was a great idea; It was meant to pull you in.

A third person god view just detracts from the whole concept even if it ultimately makes the game easier to play.
