When Sony's Jack Tretton announced Rockstar's new PlayStation 3 exclusive title, Agent , during the E3 press conference, we thought we'd get more than just a basic description. We didn't, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't be excited.

Take-Two president Ben Feder spoke to GameSpot about the impending game, and they have big plans for it. Feder said he thinks Agent will be the start of another great franchise for Rockstar North and says it's "such a rich environment to play in." As for why it's a PS3 exclusive…well, there are reasons for that. Take-Two has a lot more faith in Sony than some of you may believe: the publisher thinks Sony "will offer the same kind of support" that made the GTA franchise – the first three in the PS2 era were all initially exclusive to Sony – so freakin' huge. Feder added that "exclusivity can really help you launch a franchise," and he clearly has no problem putting Agent in Sony's court:

"I have a lot of confidence in Sony. I have a lot of confidence in their ability to lead the market, as they always have. Their console is a terrific platform to be developing for, and Agent is a great testament as to our belief in what that platform can do, and what they can do with us as part of a partnership."

He also thinks the console cycle will be longer than people think, and it's quite obvious that games just keep getting better and better in this generation. This all may come as a bit of a surprise, especially after something like Lost and Damned was exclusive to the Xbox 360. But Take-Two isn't about to forget what Sony did for them and the GTA series, and that's good news. We'll have more on Agent as time goes on, but we figured people would be looking for an explanation concerning the exclusivity decision.

Excellent article, I was hoping to get a little more on this title. I'm so happy that there are still developers out there that still want to stick with their console of choice. I mean, if all (well ..both) consoles had the exact same games, there wouldn't really be a reason to pick up one over the other. It is all about the games afterall.

yes BUT reliability is of the most importance, at least for me, even if you forget about exclusives. PS3 wins hands down.

Back on topic: Agent is becoming more and more interesting. Rockstar North are very talented developers (Im forgiving the turd called GTA4). After watching UC2, GoW3 and TLG, I know the PS3 can do wonders on good hands. Lets the hype begin.

GTA was almost the exact definition of a triple A blockbuster title that, at least to me…lived up to the hype…the opposite of a "turd"

Calling GTAIV a turd… that's just wrong. Your lack of class is disturbing.

Looking forward to this. From what Ive heard and gathered, there will be different factions to align yourself with and a huge world to explore, not just one city like the GTA games.

Any idea on a realease date?

For some reason I never lost any respect for Rockstar(wish could say the same about SE) even with the exclusive dlc's stuff,So I'll take their word that it will be an amazing game. Some information about the game would be much appreciated.

yeah it never bothered me that they took GTA to both systems either. And L&D isn't worth my money anyway.

Basically he's saying that once the franchise becomes established it's gonna become multiplatform…WTF

I was thinking that same thing.

I also got that same vibe, but I guess in this case it's a winning situation for PS3 owners as long as the game doesn't suck.

I hope it's good, GTA4 was a let down for me. It has better graphics and multiplayer but other than that San Andreas is better in every way.

For me it is completely the opposite. The realism in GTA4 is what made me get into the GTA franchise. I don't like the exagerated toyish look and animation that was in previous GTA releases. I am glad people like the earlier versions though because otherwise we wouldn't of had a GTA4 so thanks for liking the previous ones.

Wow…complete opposite of Valve wouldn't you say? I guess that's why Rockstar North is 10000000x the better developer than they are ha!

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I think one of the difference between Microsoft and Sony is that Microsoft pays BIG money for exclusives while Sony gets exclusives naturally – meaning the developers understands that the ps3 is the top dog is terms of raw power.

Really though, that's what it seems like. I never hear stories from developers talking about the greatness of the 360's power. All their exclusives seems to be well-paid. I think they even pay Sony exclusive franchises (MGS, GTA, FF?) to come to their platform. Maybe they pay time exclusives too.

Sony in their case just lets it happen. They don't battle it out by overpaying Microsoft or something, so that the franchise would stay exclusive to Sony themselves.

In short, Sony plays it more fair than Microsoft I THINK.

I'll be keeping my eyes and ears open for anything related to this one…. I think once it is revealed it will make up for all the DLC we lost with GTAIV.

I must admit GTAIV was awesome but I too was disappointed in it. You couldn't customize your cars as in San Andreas, No Planes, No Monster Truck, no woodland area…. Those were all small things but in the end it took away the replay value of GTAIV.

I completed the story and maybe spent a couple of hours driving around causing havoc and taking out fleets of cops in the process but other than that I didn't find anything worth while…. And I don't think it's just me, I'm sure a lot of people will agree with me.

The great thing about Agent is the fact that it's something new from R*. So there will be no let down of stuff that was left out and all that. And it being an exclusive to the PS3 is great! So now we can be sure that they will focus on one platform and one game, bringing us the best that they possibly can without having to worry about restrictions and leaving out content because they are running out of time or space…

I think "Agent" will become something even better that GTA… Just my opinion. Will have to wait and see as right now we don't have a lot of info on it…

I'm hearing both pieces of DLC for GTAIV will be out on disc this year for both the 360 and PS3. Best of all, you won't need the original game to play the episodes.

Hope to finally see a third party developer push the PS3 to its limit. They seem to be just the guys to do it to.
Can you imagine being a spy/agent on a sandbox world with amazingly realistic graphics and physics and a great story?
can't hardly wait to see what direction they will take with art style and gameplay elements.

Nice to hear this from rockstar. Every game company should have that kind of attitude. Especially sqaure enix.

It's almost hard to believe. I'd say it's about time the PS3 got it's just deserts from tp devs. R* will lead the way as they always have. They'll show other devs how to fill a BD with a great story and some "oh snap" moments. Probably have more "spying on cheating mates" moments too…
