The game has suffered through a few delays but we finally have a new release date, which should come as good news to slash/action fans everywhere. Like that new sub-genre I invented?
Anyway, as reported by GameSpot , THQ has revealed through its E3 Webcast that Darksiders is now scheduled to arrive on January 1, 2010. You quite literally play as War, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, in this game, and when a massive battle erupts between heaven and hell, War is thrust into the midst of everything. THQ has high expectations for this one and in fact, they're already thinking about a sequel; for our part, we say you shouldn't do that until the original is a success. But hey, if the publisher is this confident in Darksiders , we consider that to be a good sign. From what we've seen of the game so far – we do have a few gameplay videos so check our PS3 Videos section – it certainly looks promising, and there are copious amounts of blood and core. Sometimes, this is enough to generate some interest but unless the game is of a high quality, it will still flop on the sales charts. Contrary to popular ignorant belief, gamers aren't going to buy anything just because it has shocking content…besides, what can they really put into video games that has a chance at shocking us anymore? 😉
So here's hoping that Darksiders will live up to both THQ's and the consumer's expectations, which seem to be rising with every passing month. We can always use a great slash/action title!
