Strategy fans, unite! You will likely remember Front Mission 3 on the original PlayStation and Front Mission 4 on the PS2 and if you enjoyed yourself playing those titles, you'll be happy to hear that Front Mission Evolved is on the way!

The official site has gone live, and you can view some very impressive screenshots along with baseline information for the game. It looks like it'll be at E3 and not surprisingly, there are going to be a whole lot of strategy fans who are now eagerly awaiting this unveiling. We had heard whispers about this project before, but this can be considered to be official, and we're big fans of the concept. Of course, the pure turn-based format from previous iterations probably will give way to something more…well, more "evolved," which is somewhat disappointing. We hold a special place in our hearts for the old-school strat/RPGs like Final Fantasy Tactics and Tactics Ogre and we hate to see that style disappear entirely, but hey, such is the way of progress. There's no trailer at the site right now but we imagine it'll arrive soon after the video drops at E3, which it most assuredly will. Will it include gameplay? Well, perhaps not, but it all depends on how far along the team is in regards to the development process.

This begs the question: how much time and money do you have allotted for video games over the next year? …better be a significant amount.

yeah I really liked Front Mission4 but I read somewhere that this new "evolved" FM will not be a strategy game. Some western studio is doing all the work for it and it'll probably end up like a 3rd person shooter or something 😛

Actually, it IS a 3rd-person shooter game. Says so right on the site this article links to: "Front Mission Evolved brings the classic Front Mission franchise into an action-packed third-person shooter that gives players full control of a massive humanoid war machine – the Wanzer."

Square-Enix = gay.

Front Mission: Gun Hazard was a shooter as well so this isn't exactly new. And that one was pretty fun back then.

aww, I saw the picture and you got my hopes up for a new mechwarrior game, I miss that game, so awsome just storming around in a giant mech blowing things up, personally mechwarrior was my favorite mech game, I like it better then lone wolf or any other one I have played, but I have never played a "front mission" game before, i'll check it out, but I'm still going to miss my good ol' mecharrior games, and pray that they make a new one 🙁

My biggest mech wish would be for Capcom to bring an updated version of their older 2002 X-box "Steel Battalion" & "Steel Battalion :Line of contact(online)" game series over to the PS3.

And still be able to use their amazing 2 foot long, 40 button, 2 joystick, with 3 foot pedals controller set-up, &/or bring it out again for those who never had the pleasure of trying it.

Here's some good info on it & what it looks like….

Sweet. Been waiting on a new entry in this series. I own the SNES versions of the first one and Gun Hazard as well as parts 3 and 4. Sure wish they would've brought part 5 over but they never did 🙁
