It seems like every time we turn around, our eyes fall upon another PlayStation 3 exclusive, and we're finally starting to see a few from third-party developers.
Examiner.com spotted the latest: CyberConnect2 is apparently working on a new PS3 exclusive, and some are already theorizing that it's a sequel to Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm , the solid fighter that came out last year. On the other hand, RPG fanatics are hoping it's a resurrection of the long-running PS2 franchise, .hack , which featured multiple installments over a few years time. We don't know anything about this new game, but it seems the developer will be "looking to recruit new team members in an event on June 6 to help out on both of their upcoming games." The other title in question is To the World for the Nintendo DS, which may or may not be a spiritual successor to CyberConnect2's 1999 PlayStation title, Tail Concerto . Anyway, considering the ongoing popularity of Naruto , it seems very likely that another entry in the series is coming, and that's great news for the avid fans. But for those of us who never really got into the Japanese anime craze, we're hoping for something entirely different…a complete departure from the norm can be healthy for any developer. Well, provided they don't bite off more than they can chew.
We assume this is just another new title that's going to make its presence felt at E3 in a few weeks. If it is indeed on display at the show, we promise to let you know about it ASAP.
yeh im hoping for sumthing cool and original 🙂
What a coincidence. I've been playing through Naruto: UNS for the first time this last week and am really liking it a lot. I'll be interested in anything CyberConnect2 is working on…

Anything CC2 makes, is a one-day purchase for me. Always has been since the original .hack games. 🙂
Hey Ben,
You should check out scrawlfx.com for some juicy gaming tidbits. They have a leaked video of Beyond Good & Evil 2.
.hack on PS3 would be a good thing = seriously large understatement.
A-effing-MEN to that. While myself, I never got past part 2, when I think about .hack I see huge potential there. Especially with PS3, they have several options at their disposal with online functions, graphics, etcetera. When I get my BC PS3 (it decided to crap out cause' I let it gather dust like mad) fixed I'm probably going to pick .hack back up sometime this year.
Keep em comin!
give me .hack and i'll be so damn grateful, i mean servers in cell shaded hd *drools*
they should re-do .hack//Fragment now that we have the store 😉 could be a great mmo on the ps3. I mean come on it's practically already got the settings and design 😛 lol
"RPG fanatics are hoping it's a resurrection of the long-running PS2 franchise, .hack" – DAMN RIGHT WE ARE!!! God that'd be great. More JRPGs for the PS3 for the WIN!!!!
But hey if it's another original thing, that'd be great as well. Naruto does sound like a pretty big possibility considering the fan base of the anime series. But I really wonder how much of a fan they'd have to be to actually buy a video game on it. Then AGAIN… .hack// is an anime series – and I'm personally a fan of it.
Let's see…either way…it's great to know that there are 3rd party developers who want to experiment with the PS3 and see where they can end up.
If they know what's good for'em, they'll give me a new .Hack.
Please be a .hack// game or MMO!
