Ben-DutkaSome sources have prematurely announced a new Twisted Metal , in development by David Jaffe's new studio, Eat Sleep Play. However, Jaffe himself will tell you that he never officially announced any such project.
Of course, that doesn't mean people are always searching about for evidence. Jaffe posted a partial copy of an e-mail on his blog recently, and although he has updated it so the blurred-out words are even more obscured, Gamervision has the original photo. You can almost see the words you're not supposed to see, and if you need a little help, they kinda "decode" the message below. Parts of the message include phrases like, "running over him and dragging him behind your car…" and "When he is knocked out of a car and onto the ground he crawls frantically, looking… approaching cars, trying to get away, slipping as he tries to get up." Now, this may not sound exactly like the Twisted Metal we all know and love, but then again, we'd be talking about an entirely new, next-gen installment in the long-running series. And what a great addition to make: having the driver play a role! Of course, it sounds more like the driver will die about a thousand deaths in whatever this game is, but it would make sense to us if it were a new TM. Over the past six months or so, there has been some evidence to support the project, so…
Also, we've been teasing a new PlayStation 3 exclusive title for quite a while, and we've remained quiet on the game in question. …maybe we're mentioning it now to prove it's TM, or maybe we're doing it to throw you off course. Maybe i t's c oming o n soon…
David Jaffe mentioned in a interview that if he was to make a new twisted metal(which he is) he wants the drivers to be able to get out of the car(like GTA) cause many fans were asking for it.Don't know who these so called fans were but I really don't like the concept but I am open to it.

I could see that working. Ditching your car before it explodes, they somehow jacking someone else and you can use theirs. would make online play interesting XD
It would be cool when someone side swipes your car and it rolls you get knocked out of it and have to run back to it before you get hit.

I loved black. I have always liked TM. Even though 3 and 4 were crap I still loved them. TM2 however is one of my favorite games of all time….oh the memories. Brings me back to simpler days. That games was amazing!

Personally I thought two was the best. Twisted Metal 2 World Tour. I used to love blowing up the Eiffel Tower and fighting over the rooftops of Paris. Hopefully Sony and Jaffe make it official when E3 rolls around.

Team Ico's game is already set in the same universe. It's also said to be more like Ico than SOTC.

Twisted Metal Black was 1 of tha best ones i think i loved it…but think of how good Twisted Metal will be on Tha PS3 (Drools) Bring on Online Play!

what actually is twisted metal???
It's a series in which you play in some form of arena like a city or farmland or even the roofs of sky scrapers and antarctic glaciers. You pick a character, each with their own unique vehicles and special weapons, and then blow everyone else away. It's not a racing game, although Jaffe could possibly implement racing in some way. TM2 was one of those epic classics for the PS1. Great times.
Twisted Metal was great. Especially Twisted Metal 2.
Good times. If it comes to the PS3 I'll get it day 1.

not free roaming like in GTA, i think he means flying out the frount window like in GTAIV.
but he has said so many times he wont be announcing anything at E3 but later in the year my guess would be TGS most likely.

they should do a new car combat game i realy loved full auto battle lines 2.
it was so much fun pelting into cars full speed flipping them over, and each car was so different wich added variety i found it was impossiable to get past certain lvls without a certain car.
thats what we need more of with the crash effects of burnout paradise the cars look so realistic the way they crumple.
Full Auto is kind of like Twisted Metal…Just bad.
The first Vigilante 8 was really good. Rouge Trip was equally fun.
