Okay, we're getting a little tired of these stories, even though we know it qualifies as news that will appeal to some PlayStation 3 owners.
It's the growing saga surrounding a possible PS3 version of Lost Planet 2 . When Capcom's Keiji Inafune first dropped the hint that it was coming, he said it would be released for the PS3 and 360 in 2009. But when the official announcement came, there was no mention of the PS3 and when pressed, Capcom vice-president Christian Svensson would only say the situation is "complicated" and "confusing." This doesn't really help and to add more fuel to the fire, Capcom has just released the list of games they plan to bring to E3. You will notice the glaring inclusion of the word "currently" next to Lost Planet 2 ; no other game on that list carries such a clarification or justification or whatever . Now, recent articles we've posted on this site have revealed the pulse of the readers: they really don't seem to care if Lost Planet 2 comes to the PS3 or not; it may be due to the fact that the original took so long to release on Sony's machine. Hence, sales were low – a good reason for Capcom's reluctance – and interest in a sequel is likely low as well.
But anyway, we'll be keeping an eye on things. At this point, it may only be a matter of time before Lost Planet 2 shows up on the PS3, but, well…how many people care?
I played the 1st one briefly on 360 at a buddies place, meh. But …. Lost Planet 2, from what I've seen from videos, looks absolutely amazing, and even though I'm not a fan of 3rd person shooting/action games, this has me interested.
Well it's inevitable for the games to come. I dont know why people get all upset when Sony got Ghost Busters in for PAL, when MS have been getting all these deals for all other developers. No company that plans to go multi-platform will make one version so much later on purpose. There has to be a reason for all this (microsoft!!). They should've just said PS3 is coming later.
I believe that developers has gotten to a point where they can port a Xbox 360 game to PS3 with no quality losts now. Either that or multi-platform games do not require the extra difference in power to make the game work. There are no lost for PS3 fans.
Who is john Shepard
He is a games journalist. Writes for a site called PSX Extreme.
Who is your daddy and what does he do ?
Colonel, US Air Force on detachment to Atlantis, in the Pegasus galaxy?
He's one of my long lost relatives.
Isn't he a character on Lost?
The first was crap anyway and just like Square-Anus I no longer support Crapcom. So they can keep this crappy sequel since they don't seem to value PS3 owners as consumers to begin with.
You sir are a man of principle and have earned my respect. I no longer support Square Gaynix, Crapcom, and Ratamco either
You deserve a pat on the back and a slap on the face .
@ DarthNemesis – You are sadly mistaken if you think Capcom doesn't care about PS3.
Wow, if you dont support those three, good luck with your high quality game list this year n next.
yeah square and capcom seem to forget who made them as big as they are now. it's funny how every rpg in the 360 flopped. karma
With all the games coming out for the PS3 over the course of 09' and into next year. Who's really cares if this game comes out on the PS3?
I sure as hell don't.
who cares if this game is 360 exclusive..
i don't care..if they want to release it on ps3 then why not who cares.. the game is not so popular anyway..
I have a feeling this is gonna be like Killzone 2. The first one wasn't that great, but the second one looks FREAKIN amazing. I for one want this game. Are you guys kidding me?!! The video blew my mind.
The first one was garbage
And don't really care 'bout this game anyway
I'm not into this game but "its complicated" clearly means "We are still negotiating the timed exclusivity with Microsoft and part of it says we can't announce it for PS3"
money money money, money!!!
Maybe they are just waiting to see how much M$ is going to pay for it.
yeah we know how much M$ love you spend on their crappy system.
Well I do care. People like to use this game as a whipping boy for no good reason, and I get tired of listening to it.
The first game was fun and entertaining, and solidly produced. None of that "massive slowdown, it looks horrible" crap people like to peddle. It wasn't a masterpiece, but most games aren't, anyway. Bring it to the PS3, and please the fans.
In fact, I was just playing it online today, after beating it nearly a year ago. It's still fun! And people are playing it and having a good time.
Whiners piss off.
Dude, I totally agree with you! I have *no* idea where people are basing the "port sucked on PS3" are coming from. Can someone actually give me a concrete example?? …yeah, didn't think so.
I thought the game was great fun. Never played online, but still enjoyed the single-player campaign alot.
I'm positive LP2 will come to the PS3 at some point. I'm not overly concerned, because there are too many great titles to hold me over well into next year, so no worries…
I liked the 1st one ill get it on PS3 if it comes. I hope it has a single player story also. Dont get me wrong i love having the option of co op in a game but i was kinda interested in the Akrid. Are they mindless beasts or do they have some kind of heiarchy and all bow down to a grand daddy Akrid King.
Didn`t like the first one! The T-eng ruined the hole game, it made me stress to get through each level…and that wasen`t fun at all. So I`m sceptical to LP2…but if they get rid of it…then maybe!
I nabbed Lost Planet at BB during the $10 sale they had last week but unfortunately havne't fired it up yet. It's one of those "the game doesn't have trophies" situations. I'll play it, but I'm addicted to Singstar at the moment.
"well…how many people care?"
Not MeeeEEEeeEeEEeEEEEe!!!
I really do care….jk
Even the most beautiful flower needs the plain leaves to make it look stunning. The Wii has many garbage games… but PS2 has more that scored below a 6 review, but the success was the large and diverse library. One game like this (not saying it'll score a 6) alone might not matter to you, but they will contribute to the diversity of PS3 and make your KZ2 and MGS4 look a hell lot better.
Well, if it hits the PS3 I'll be getting it, if it doesn't I can skip it without a problem.
Capcom's choice
I bought the first one and what a mistake that was. Even if it hits the PS3 I don't plan on picking this title up. The first LP had some boring gameplay mechanics and I have a hard time believing that much has changed with the second entry.
Capcom puts a horrible port on the PS3 and it doesn't sell that well.
Who's fault is that again?
Just for my own curiosity, can you tell me how the port to the PS3 was so bad? I played on the Xbox360 version first, but then switched over to the PS3 version, after a buddy got it for me as a gift. I saw no difference what-so-ever.
Again, I'm just curious…not meaning any disrespect.
It wasn't that different, and that was the problem. It has a extra year to work on it, and it kept every single little flaw. Added a few small glitches, slightly worse frame rate issue, and the visuals where notably not up to par with the 360 version.
This is why its called a bad port.
Also, they expected full price.
To be honest the 360 version aint that hot to start with. The first game suffers from some painfully laborious gameplay and the port to PS3 was a fair bit uglier than the original with some bad jaggies, IIRC.
Doubt that they'll change a great deal for the second game-yeah it looks a lot batter but it isn't fabulous looking and with all the exclusives we have for PS3 in the coming months how much interest will there be for LP2? After a bad port first time out I'm not guessing much.
they care but the generation of interactive media is so fast paced that its hard to meet consumer demand in justly fashion.
I don't understand….
Lost Planet 1 sucked! Why does anyone care about LP2?
No one purchased LP1 for PS3. Don't they look at the numbers before making a game. No one bought it. No one is going to buy the next one. How hard is that to understand?
I'm sure if LP1 came out at the same time for both PS3 and XB360, then the sales would have been different.
I liked LP1, even though everyone bashes on it. Seriously, if you didn't like the game that's okay. This was one of the better mecha games out there, considering that you could exit the mech too and play as a foot soldier. The T-Energy was alright, it forced players to continually progress forward, rather than just di** around. The controls in the game were alright, but could have used a little work.
I'll look forward to this if it comes to PS3.
Just curious… Did people not like this game because the main character was Asian? But everyone is just secretly keeping it themselves?
