We know that many of you are always saying things like, "wouldn't it be awesome to get paid to play games?" I could make some sort of smug comment right here, but I'll let it slide. 😉
Anyway, according to PS3Center , Sony Japan will be letting a few gamers sign up to play unreleased titles and provide feedback. That feedback will be used to – presumably – improve the quality of upcoming SCEJ software and perhaps best of all, those who help out will be paid for their time. Two to three hours will bring in 2,500 yen while 6-7 hours nets you 5,000 yen plus a free lunch. If for whatever reason you're in Japan (and can speak and read Japanese), head on over to the Sign-Up Page and enter your information. What's most important to us is the fact that some news may be leaked during these play tests; in fact, it almost seems inevitable that someone will let a few details slip… Furthermore, this is a practice we wholeheartedly believe in, and we're really looking forward to SCEA giving it a shot here in the US. We always feel lucky to play early builds and betas and the like, and we see no reason why avid gamers shouldn't be given a similar chance as well; after all, the consumer is always right! And besides, we get this feeling that some of you would sign up even if you didn't get paid.
Anyway, we'll keep a close eye on the Internet to see if anything squeezes out of these inside looks at unreleased SCEJ titles. Maybe nothing will come of it, but who knows?
It would be great if they would do that in the U.S.
That's pretty cool! Too bad I don't speak or live in Japan. T_T
I'll keep my day job, but that would be one awesome thing to do on Wednesday nights.
I'd do it if I could but I think (and I dunno bout John but Ben might agree with me here) being involved with games so technically and as a job and not just playing for fun could probably put a bit of a damper on the whole gaming experience.
True….you'll probably get used to sampling, testing games without finishing them 100%
I was getting my hopes up… then I read only in Japan. Yeah they should do this stateside.
Give em a little of the old ultraviolence.

I think it will be awesome to get a job like that. But on the other hand it might suck playing early builds for the all the games before it goes gold. So you'll always be playing incomplete versions of of.
I will only do it if I get a free Special Edition of the game once it's completed.
Hasn't SCEJ heard of message boards?? WTF? Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind being paid to play, but what Killzone 2 taught Guerrilla is you give gamers an outlet and they will tell you what's wrong. And sure, they are talking about "unreleased titles", Home was unreleased, but the beta program and message board helped them out didn't it.
In the US in the US!
They'd be missing a GREAT mind if they don't select me for something like this.
Anyway it's a great practice imo.
I woudn't mind doing testing too, right here in the good ole USA
