Special Guitars For Beatles: Rock Band

Beatlemaniacs can be a downright crazy bunch, but they had better also have some extra cash tucked away if they want the full experience for The Beatles: Rock Band .

According to Joystiq, MTV Games and Harmonix have revealed that two standalone guitars will release alongside the upcoming music title: the Rickenbacker 325 and Gretsch Duo Jet, "allegedly" played by John Lennon and George Harrison through the course of their illustrious careers, will be up for sale in September at $100 apiece. And if you're wondering – and we know you are – we'll do the mathematical figuring for you: the full bundle for the game will retail for $250 and if you want both of these unique guitars as well, your total bill will sit at $450. Of course, Mariana Agathoklis of MTV Games said these optional instruments "are really for the hardcore fans," and we're not about to argue with that assessment. And hey, if you want to join the pre-order club , feel free to do so; it's something else that's designed to cater to the hardcore Beatles followers. The good news is that with a game like this, you're guaranteed to tap into plenty of avid die-hard followers, which means the cost of admission probably won't seem so crazy. After all, you're talking about a group of people that might spend hundreds of dollars for an original record for their collection.

We have no idea where this Rock Band train will end but at this point, just about any legendary band could get their very own music video game. The Guitar Hero and Rock Band franchises are just too huge to ignore.

How can you hate The Beatles? Sure you might not like their music but that doesn't change the fact they were a great inspirational band for many musicians and have definitely made some great music that is still being played today 🙂

I did not realize they could be inspirational to some people, I tend to never think past the music.

you come off as ignorant and to say they are inspirational to some people is an understatement…one could say that they set the standard high for quality music and few have reached where they have gone musically and lyrically…

Hey, SarahPalinMILF, I would say that it was Bob Dylan who "set the standard for high-quality music," or Buddy Holly or Hank Williams before him. So many people that influenced the Beatles, and so many besides the Beatles that influenced others, so often get ignored in favor of one big fat name.

did you even read my second comment?, I realized my first comment was rude and ignorant not the second one, you know the one I was complimenting them about being inspirational even though it may be an understatement I was trying to compliment them!

@LividFriction
Mr. Zimmerman also went nutso half way through his career when he did a gospel album…what does that set a standard for…also The Beatles and Bob Dylans careers weren't decades apart as you made it sound but rather intertwined at different points of their careers…the way you put it makes it sound to the uninformed person that music that way made in 2000 for example is drastically different from music that was made in 2003 and when you translate that back to the 60's/70's to me there is truly only one band that spoke to the public on such an emotional level as the Beatles have

@MadKatBebop

(At least it sounds like you like Bebop)
Actually you never gave them a compliment you said that you never realized they were thatinspirational, which I think is more negative 😉

But I'm not gonna' give you a hard time because that's your opinion.
Even though The Beatles pwned the World! Hah
(not you WorldEndsWithMe).
And we both don't play the games so it doesn't really affect us?

Unless the gameplay is very different from Rock Band (which I doubt), they should have made this a downloadable package or add on. Why spend on new instruments? lol. Oh well, it's going on my 'maybe' list 😛

Same thing can be said for every new guitar hero and rock band 'titled' game pretty much 🙂

I remember hearing (maybe even from this site) that the reason it's not a track pack or DLC package is due to special licensing limitations of the people and companies that own the songs. Yeah I'd rather pay for the pack if it were released, but I'll probably get the game anyway.

Wow for that much, you might as well go and pick up a real guitar with a starter amp and just learn the real thing. Seriously though this is kind of getting a little ridiculous.

They still have to make that unique bass guitar Paul McCartney used, too. He used two models: the Hofner Model 500/1 violin bass and the Rickenbacker model 4001S. If people want to go all out for this game, they should be given the opportunity.

This Beatles Rock Band game might be the one that gets me to buy into the series. I've always been a Guitar Hero guy.

I like Rock Band and I like the Beatles but I agree this is getting a bit ridiculous and as DIsmael pointed out you can get a real guitar and basic amp for that amount of dough. They really should make at least a standalone, bluray release of the game that can be used with existing Rock Band instruments but with this being the Beatles music I suspect licensing/etc is a huge issue.

I believe the term 'inspirational' in the previous post is meant more as 'influence' rather then 'personally inspiring' as The Beatles definitely influenced just about every aspect of what is currently referred to as 'pop' music and you can hear their influence in just about every indie/etc band coming out of the UK in the past thirty years (i.e. Stone Roses, etc). Plus you gotta love them as they were one of the first bunch of musicians that went nuts in that way only evolving artists can and gave the press the finger eventually.

There is both, a bundle and stand alone version. $250 and $60 respectibly.

My bass guitar for rock band just broke this weekend (Strum bar) May need to hold out for a new one now…

Glad to see music gamer's getting thiers, but for me…meh, they're not my cup of java. And I see it as nothing more than a big fat cash cow

Anyways, I guess I dance to a different drummer, cause I've always loved most of the Stones tunes more than any of the Beatle's.

*Going along with my comment above to MadKat*

I've just realized that stuff like 'other people's opinions' and 'IMHO' are now one of the biggest cliches that I hear everyday.

There's so many different tastes in music and other things in life.

Even saying cliche is pretty much a cliche.

=D
