Overlord was a decent RPG/strategy title that put gamers in the role of an evil warlord who simply wanted to rum amok in the world of men. Nothing wrong with that, right?
If you like the concept, prepare for more domination: according to GameSpot , Codemasters has confirmed that Overlord II will hit store shelves simultaneously for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC at the end of June. It will launch in North America on June 23 and only a few days later – on June 26 – in the UK, and just to pique your interest, the publisher has called it "the game that puts the laughter into slaughter." …man, I hope that doesn't ever reach the anti-game activists. Anyway, Overlord's ravenous hordes will make their triumphant return, complete with new abilities and special "mount creatures," meaning you can now ride around on animals like wolves and even giant spiders. It's all about plunder and vice; the minions will even be able to "gather voluptuous mistresses" for the Overlord, although they were quiet on what we'd actually do with these ladies. We have a good idea, but how far are they willing to go…? Obviously, this sequel is designed to be bigger and badder than the original and really, that's all we can ask for. Let's just hope the mechanics are a little better this time around.
Overlord II gets tossed into a jam-packed June, and although it misses the first few weeks where certain massive releases are scheduled, it'll still have to do battle with Batman: Arkham Asylum , slated for June 23.
