Our favorite part of Ubisoft's recent financial report was the game schedule for the 09/10 fiscal year, but there's one other intriguing aspect that will appeal to PlayStation 3 owners.
One might assume that with the user base difference between the PS3 and Xbox 360, publishers will rake in more profit from Microsoft's system when it comes to multiplatform titles. Well, Ubisoft does multiplats and yet, according to the report, Sony's machine was actually their top sales generator. It came in at 20% while the 360 and Wii followed closely behind at 19% and 18% respectively, but again, it's the user base discrepancy that matters. Despite that, the PS3 still competed favorably, which is good news for the future: Ubisoft won't be ignoring Sony's console for future projects, now will they? As for the year-over-year statistics, the PS3 stayed steady at that 20% number (it was 20% in 2007, too), and the 360 fell 7% while the Wii rose 7%. Big movers for the publisher were Prince of Persia and Far Cry 2 , and we're not about to say that Haze really helped Ubisoft's numbers in any way, even though it was exclusive to the PS3. For now, it's just good to know that publishers can indeed do well with the PS3; this console war has only just begun and the PS3 is charging hard.
Anyway, we'll wait to hear more information on Ubisoft's upcoming titles and for our part, I Am Alive and Assassin's Creed 2 top our list.
