Even though Capcom typically has a multiplatform approach to this generation, it doesn't appear as if they want to bring Lost Planet 2 to the PlayStation 3.
This may seem odd, as Dead Rising 2 is certainly PS3-bound, but perhaps it has something to do with the fact that Extreme Condition likely didn't sell so well when it finally emerged on Sony's machine. Now, the game's producer, Jun Takeuchi, says they're "only working on the 360 version of Lost Planet 2 right now." He made the unfortunate statement during Capcom's Captivate 09 event last week, and when pressed about other platforms, he would only say that they're "not ready to announce anything…at this time." Because the new series debuted on the 360, there's every indication that Capcom may just want to focus on the platform that most of the Lost Planet fans identify with. The publisher may not think it's worth the time and money to produce a PS3 version of the sequel, and we probably can't blame them for this outlook. On the other hand, there's a chance that Lost Planet 2 could just be another timed exclusive for the 360, even though many PS3 owners just shrug their shoulders and say, "eh, they can keep it."
From our point of view, if the game is good, it'd make for a worthy addition to the PS3's library. At the same time, there are plenty of PS3 exclusives that will occupy our time, so…
I won't be crying if I can't play Lost Planet 2. I didn't care for the demo of the original game on the Xbox 360.

I DON'T WHY THEY MAKE A BIG DEAL ABOUT LOST PLANNE IS NOT THAT GOOD ANYWAY. NO OFFENCE CAPCOM. I LUV YOUR GAMES BUT THIS ONE IS OK.
No posts with all CAPS, please.
Well why not Ben? Everybody knows that caps lock is cruise control for cool.
Couldn't care less.
Original was meh…this will most likely be meh, so I honestlt don't give a f**k
It's Capcom's fault for the less than lukewarm reception of the first Lost Planet on the PS3. If it were on par qualitywise if not better than the 360 version, then PS3 gamers might have bad more reasons to buy it. This would have given them more reason for a sequel on the PS3.
Oh….Boo-Hoo…I guess I'll have to live with Uncharted 2 and GT5.
The first one was so-so at best. I liked the concept but the gameplay was lacking. 360 can keep it.
I played the first one in the 360, but since I sold my 360, I had thought to buy the sequel on PS3.
Shame on them. Let's play U2:AT
Lost planet was wack anyway.
Not really bothered if PS3 doesn't get LP2 as wasn't really a fan of the first. What I don't understand though is why release MvC2 demo exclusive to PSN (but for how long??) and Bionic Commando demo exclusive to 360??. Why not just release both demos on both networks?
I thought the first lost planet was mediocre at best
Here's a crazy logic trail: Capcom offers us a delayed, half-baked version of the first LP, so PS3 players naturally don't buy it, and now, we don't get a crack at the second title. Kinda pointless for Capcom to even bring it up, no?
The multiplayer was fun but im not going to miss it. Someone should tell Capcom Ps3 owners dont care.
Do you hear that? Do you?
Me neither.
That's the sound of people going about their business as if they didn't care. Mostly because they don't.
On a related note how did this game sell enough copies to get a sequel?
It was a fairly big release for the Xbox 360. In fact, I'm pretty sure Lost Planet hit high on sales charts for a little while.
The PS3 version, on the other hand…it barely registered.
honestly, they shouldn't have expected sales to be good on the ps3, they released the game a "a day late and a dollar short"
In fact, with timed exclusives like this, it often messes with sales later down the road for whoever gets it later.
And, honestly, the game was ok at best, nothing really worth bragging about, it came out in a time on the 360 when the pickings were a lil slim imo which might be the reason why it did decent sales on the 360. The capcom name on it didnt hurt either
I tend to think it did well on the 360 due to the fact that it was one of the early releases with online deathmatch. As PS3 owners had many better options when the PS3 version came out, people just didnt care.
I'm not a big fan of this game. Not a huge lost I'll say.

Had the original Lost Planet on Xbox, it was fun but I won't be crying about missing the 2nd one. Now Dead Rising on the other hand is another story. I still have the original on Xbox and am glad the 2nd is going multiplat.
Oooooo.. big loss <sarcasm>.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo *cough* ooooooooooooooooo
/sarcasm
Never played the first one, and judging from these comments, I didn't miss much. If that's the case, I'm over it.

I really don't understand how the PS3 version of Lost Planet was inferior?? I played Lost Planet originally on the 360, then eventually finished it on the PS3, because my friend bought me a copy as a gift.
I'm not seeing that there is this huge quality difference – if at all. Can someone enlighten me? Or is this just another "bash the multiplatform PS3 version at any opportunity" stab?
For the record, I actually like Lost Planet. I thought it was fun, and the graphics were great. No complaints here.
i dont recall it being inferior in any way, its just that by the time the game came out, most ps3 users who wanted it…didn't. Anyone who wanted to pay it already did, kinda the same reason why bioshock didnt move as many copies on the ps3. Its why i think "timed exclusivity" is becoming a bad idea nowadays
Why would PS3 fans bash a PS3 version of a game? Isn't it our job to defend it?
You'd wanna bash it if it indeed is bad. Cant go around blindly defending everything just because its on PS3.
yep, can't say I care too much…
wont be shedding a single tear on this one. I thought the first one was really bad anyway. Why they are even making a second one after pretty moderate sales is beyond me. I am more willing to say that with MS's lack of exsclusives this year it may have been a backroom type of deal.. hint money, money and after the dismall software results this past NPD post may have pushed the deal even more either way I could care less seeing I really hated the first one on either system anyway.
It was boring first game ever that I've never bothered to complete the 2nd level. I'm glad its only on Xbox besides I've got Uncharted 2 to worry about nevermind this boring trash
I can assume 95% of ps3 owners don't care. The first game was so horrible and boring that I felt like I was watching a episode of friends.
If this comment list is any indicator, I agree with you.
I liked it for 360 so i'll get it for that again 😀
im with ya on that nasah…..not gonna buy it on 360 lol…..but i thought the first game was ok and good fun
Thats stupid, why did they even bother releasing the 1st one over a year later…. honestly
I picked up Lost Planet for PS3 when it came out. It was fun. Nothing spectacular but still fun. Controls felt "ok", aside from the limited viewing/aiming area.
I love the snow and idea of a snow covered planet (see: Hoth). Now that it looks like it takes place in Uncharted territory (add giant bugs), no thanks.

I got it for the 360 pre owned but ended up trading it in again. I never even bothered with the PS3 version. The only ones I did were Bioshock and Overlord.
It mat miss the PS3, but the PS3 won't miss it.
The first one was imo a 7.2-10. Seeing the trailers for the 2nd one where multiple people are fighting a giant bug actually had my interest a little peaked. That being said, with this news though it isn't a great loss with all the PS3 exclusives coming, not to mention some of the multiplats like, Bayonetta, Dantes Inferno, Bioshock 2, Mafia 2.
I don't think the PS3 miss miss Lost Planet 2! The first one didn't light my fire to say the least.
It probably didn't suck your d*** either.
LOL, the Doors – pwn
=D
*Sob*
I was sure my Doors reference would get a thumbs up.

Considering how 'good' Lots Planet was, it's not really a shock that Lost Planet might miss the PS3. Heaven knows it will miss the mark either way.
Could care less…..
although the first game was a bit boring, it would be a shame for this game to miss the ps3 even if it is just timed exclusive. You would think that capcom would have learned by now, bring it out at the same time to maximize their profits.
If the ps3 can get Dead Rising 2 without even having the first game, then there is no reason for them to skip over this game for the ps3 players
Capcom get your act together.
Lost Planet 1 was one of the worst games ever made. It looked and played like garbage. I wouldn't play LP2 if it was free!!
Dear Capcom,
Please discontinue the LP series.
Thanks, Super
And I thought I hated it!
God of War III!!!
Who cares about Lost Planet?!?!?
Not Me!
OMG I thought you were Qubex for a minute 😉
