Yeah, we all knew it was coming – we even had a debut teaser and we know about the Game Informer cover feature – but Ubisoft hadn't "officially" announced the game. Okay, so now it's official .
According to IGN, Ubisoft has finally made the announcement for Assassin's Creed 2 , and it comes with two new nuggets of information. First off, the announcement includes an estimated release window for the hotly anticipated sequel: holiday 2009 for all "current-generation systems," which likely translates to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii and maybe PC. This would be sooner than some had expected, but if AC2 could drop onto store shelves for this holiday season, it'd give everyone involved a boost. Secondly, it has been confirmed that a PSP version is in the works, which isn't exactly surprising, as we know the original title is scheduled to launch for the handheld this year. Of course, it'd be a little strange to get the two games so close to one another on the PSP, but we doubt the fans will complain. For the new information we've gathered, read up on the Game Informer highlights : we know it'll be set in Venice, we're getting a new hero – Ezio – and we can expect more weapons and missions. Oh, and we also have the debut teaser video as well, but it isn't going to tell you much. If you like cryptic things, though, it's probably worth a look.
The holiday season is already filling up with great games, and at this rate, we'll probably be facing another painful Christmas for our wallets.
first
Please leave !
could some one tell me what is the point of writing first is it supposed to make you feel superior or something?when you write that all you get is hate so why bother.
First failure?
saying first is bad around here. either fix yourself or go away
first to what, comment? it doesnt really count as a comment if it just says 'first' what does that have to do with the article
Assassin's Creed for the PSP….Ill totally buy it.
lmao at jdude…but wow I really have to get into Assassin's Creed. I hear it's great from all sorts of people in my school, but unfortunately I don't have a PS3 yet…but I do have a PSP. Let's hope that the Assassin's creed there won't be really different compared to the PS3 ones.
You could also get it for PC for about $30 if you wanted, but if you ask me, it's probably better suited to be played on a console.
Looking forward to this game. The first one was great, but a little monotonous. I'm hoping this one doesn't fall to that same fate.
Absolutely no more "first" posts in news articles.
If you don't have anything to say, don't type anything.
*high five*
One of my most anticipated games .
hopefully this one will be hot cause the first one was like taking Nyquil.
What you didn't like climbing a thousand towers and jumping into a thousand hay bales with the same animation over and over and over?
Yeah I hope this one has the same game mechanics but offers a great deal more variety. I loved the first game for about three hours and then I felt mind numbingly bored by it. I hope that they take the good and leave the bad.
Yeah tell me about; I am a collector so every game I buy I keep but Assassin's Creed has been the only exception. After the first day I never wanted to see it again. It was equivalent to looking at a wall for an hour,so I am hoping they jam pack 2 with everything.
Was the first one on the Wii? Whenever a game goes to Wii it makes me think it can't be that great (Tomb Raider).
Rental.
i've never played the first one
The first one was fun if you had, you know, an imagination.
Yes it was similar missions and tasks to unlock assassinations, but if you weren't having fun running through a crowd, up the side of a building, jumping onto a guard's back with your blade shoved in their neck, then your creative spark is gone, and playing games must be a real chore for you cause you obviously don't feel glee anymore.
Of course there's definite room for improvement. It would be nice if the information you overheard was better implemented to be actually useful, giving clues or direction beyond a guard not being on the wall or whatnot. I'd like to see a bit more variety in the way you could approach a target for assassination, seemed to me about 90% of the time it was less a steatlh kill than a full on battle against every guard he had with the target being killed by you in a random sword fight because some drunk or deranged person pushed you and broke your cover. Oh, and it'd be great to have a badass killing machine that can actually SWIM!
So yeah, areas for improvement indeed, but was no one else blown away by a character who, when climbing, actually moved his hands to the correct places to grab ledges? Have I been playing games too long or did those animations scream next-gen to anyone else?
And to gdude with his "first" post, grow the **** up or go back to IGN to post that crap.
Eight year olds, Dude.
My sentiments exactly. I loved AC. Sure it was repetitive but hey, I loved pac-man too. It's a gaaaame. The graphics were awesome and the battles were some of the best there was/is. The guy's an assassin not Dante! Loved taking out those Templars. They were sick SoBs those guys… The very fact that AC2 will be better than the first leads me to believe I'll be there day one.
amen brother! Loved the first game too, repetitive or not. When the actions themselves are so badass, you don't feel bored for doing it over and over again!
last.. hehe! just kidding.. i dunno if i'm gonna buy this game. If Heavy Rain won't be released this holiday season, i'll choose between this game and max payne 3..
A definate buy.
with tight cash these days, its a rental for now.
if i manage to come into some cash towards when it comes out, i might buy it. Renaissance italy sounds a lot cooler than crusades era jerusalem, for sure.
I was very much against buying this game but after seeing the teaser trailers and screenshots I am getting amped up for this game.
I just hope I aren't let down again….

And it better have frickin' trophies this time! Ubi! Where's my AC trohpy patch!?
it was announced after January 2009 so i think its mandatory to have trophies 🙂
I've heard that one before.
Personally, I think they should've had that DS version of Assassin's Creed ported for the PSP; the old school prince of persia style looked cool.
A 3D Assassin's Creed for the PSP might end up like the PSP Splinter Cell; such horrible camera you couldn't even get a glimpse of the action that was so important.
Vegeta, what does the scouter say about its awesome-level??!
ITS OVER 9000!!!!!
WHAT 9000? THAT CANT BE RIGHT!
I think it's right.
Good i will def be buying this.
the first 1 sucked, whats fun about doin the same thing over and over

Have you ever played Pac-Man? classic game, all you do is chomp-chomp-chomp!
I enjoyed the first one. Once I stopped "rushing" through the game and just took in the surroundings and actually had fun with it I actually enjoyed it a lot more than what I did at first. I just hated the fact that it was so buggy at places and froze up like a gazzillion times.
The 2nd one must add on to make it more action packed and give some more variety than before. And the fact that you can actually swim in this one is a definite bonus if you ask me.
I will definitely play it but I'll wait a while before I actually buy it.
