Ben-DutkaIt seems many of you believe the rumor (with supposed evidence) that Hideo Kojima's new project will indeed be related to his legendary Metal Gear Solid franchise.
Although many of you want to believe that Kojima is going to create a genre-defying title that doesn't specifically fall into any one category but features a blending of elements, most still think it'll be a MGS prequel. A little while back, the big rumor was that Raiden will be the main character in the game, but everyone keeps pointing us back to the fact that Kojima and Co. want to appeal more to the Western gaming audience. This doesn't necessarily mean a prequel is out of the question, but it does mean we can expect something fresh and new. It may not appeal to the die-hard Kojima fans out there, but provided you're not hooked on that particular style of gameplay, you should be intrigued by the new game. It will be unveiled at E3 in June so we don't have much longer to wait; it's guaranteed to be one of the most anticipated announcements of the show. However, to all PS3 fans: don't be surprised if the game is coming to both the PS3 and Xbox 360; in fact, it almost seems inevitable at this point.
Next up is a simple question, although it may be difficult for you to choose just one: what's your most anticipated upcoming PlayStation 3 exclusive? Which game on that impressive list over there to the right interests you the most? Which is the game that will cause you to skip school or work just to pick it up at the store? Or, if you want to look at it in a different way, which of these will have the most "system-seller" potential? Anyway, vote for your most anticipated PS3 exclusive now!
Uncharted 2 for me – I'm tired of waiting for FFXIII. Ratchet and Clank is a close second place.
Whatever Kojima cooks up in the future, you can be sure that I will be buying it. I'd be a little disappointed if it's not a PS3 exclusive, but that won't deter me from owning whatever he comes up with.
Team Ico gets my vote. by far my favorite game developers.

Woah, Uncharted 2 and God of War III are split quite evenly in the poll, that's something I thought I'd never see. Here's hoping Uncharted 2 sells decently, Naughty Dog deserve it.
Uncharted sold very decently, so I can't see a sequel doing badly…
That's similar to what I was thinking. The game closest to Raiden's fighting style I could think of was DMC. If they could some how make a stealth game that mixed in some DMC hack and slash… I have no idea how it would work, but it could be amazing.
Wow Ben absolutely perfect timing with the question I have to say…3 days ago, I suddenly told myself that "Hey…Shadowpal2…you should go check that latest trailer for Final Fantasy Versus XIII, remember the one?" So I searched it up…and let's just say that it was one of the most epic trailers I've ever seen.
To be honest, and this is going to make a lot of people criticize me but I say bring it on, I though the game trailer was more epic than the epic MGS 2 trailer back in the early PS2 days and MGS 4 COMBINED. I don't know…I just don't know why – but I can't stop loving FF Versus XIII. The latest trailer of FF Versus XIII had such amazing music. I downloaded it by ripping the music off a YouTube video…and I'll tell you that I've listened to the 4 minute song…the whole 2 hours in the mall. My headphones weren't off at all…I just kept listening to it and had the same feeling over and over again: FF Versus XIII just seems so epic.
The emotion displayed on the character's faces. The whole organization of business man having a conference in a very fancy flamboyant luxurious room. Noctis and his 3 buddies hanging out and going through the fast paced story. The way Stella reacted when she saw Noctis and knew they had to fight although she didn't want to. The environment of the place – a city and a huge desert. A strange natural disaster. An overall dark theme.
I…just absolutely love FF Versus XIII. And because I'm so hyped up for it, it will fail…considering I'm just way too excited for it. But I do believe that that game…God of War III and Gran Turismo 5 will send it to the Sun.
I am 100% with you. I feel like the game was designed specifically to discourage me from trying to create any form of fictional art because the perfect story, setting, characters, etc has been fulfilled just by a couple trailers and screenshots of this game… Difficult to express fully, but I love it. I love it sooooo much.
The next mgs might be a flop because Kojima is basing it off what he thinks people want and not what he dreams of doing.
Lets face it. Majority of "western" games concentrate on what the masses want and as a result,they all become the same storyless games- a hollywood path,of sorts.

I think you are right… it will also be "that system seller" that Sony has been hoping for.
The game would be truly over if GoWIII or Unchartered II were bundled together in a special PS3 promotion package with a price cut to $299

Yes it's easy to say "easilY," GOW is just that good.
It was hard actually with GT5 in there, but GT5 might come out next year.
Versus is still way too far off to get excited about.
A prequel?
Probably a story that takes place between Snake Eater and MGS1.
And we'll be playing as Big Boss(maybe).

And remember there was Metal Gear 1 and Metal Gear 2 after that as well. So basically there has to be something in between Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops and Metal Gear 1.
I have great faith that Hideo Kojima won't pull a David Jaffe and follow up a career defining release like "God of War" with "Calling All Cars". That said, I would love to see him make a game where we play as The Boss and learn about her role in the Metal Gear canon.
She is, afterall, mentor to Big Boss, daughter to former Philosopher, mother to Ocelot, and the first legendary soldier. I would really dig it if Kojima did that.
As for exclusives? The one I'm looking forward to the most is "God of War 3". That game will make me take a day or two off from work to play.
Other games I'm looking forward to are: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time, Infamous, and Heavy Rain. Bioshock 2, Prototype, and Modern Warfare are the top multiplatform titles too. So many good games in 2009 for PS3 owners to choose from…
I'm still working on MLB 09: The Show, Killzone 2, Bioshock, and Valkyria Chronicles…
HHH, your post made me realize that I've got to go back & play MGS 1.
(I got my first MGS & Syphon Filter used at the same time, and loved SF so much, I forgot all about finishing MGS1).
But "a certain spirit from within" is keeping me posessed till I've done a play-through on "The Darkness" for now.

If it is a Metal Gear Solid game, Hideo tends to make them bigger & more impressive than previous games, & as MGS4 took up a fair portion of a Blu-Ray disc, how is that going to work, are they going to produce an inferior game on the 360, or throw it onto 5 discs, or worse still go the same route as most other developers & cripple the PS3 version so that it resembles the 360 version & the two can be designed side by side with just a port to do. I'm still not completely convinced that Square Enix won't cripple the PS3 version of FFXIII, but I'll reserve judgement on that until it comes out in 2073. To say it's almost inevitable that the next Hideo project will come out multiplatform is a very sweeping guess of a statement – I don't mind if it is on the 360 as long as any PS3 version isn't compromised.

Microsoft were dumb to have launched the 360 so early with DVD which is sooooooooooo last gen.
Game quality competition could have been tighter but a difference between Blu-ray and DVD is just too much.

Question to u guys in NA. How strict are they with the purchase of mature rated games. I mean I know the ps3 seems to skew more towards the slightly older age group compared to moronic tweens that have X360s (no offense to u dual console owners out there) but would a restricted rated game have major impact on sales over there??
Here in tiny New Zealand, ppl are totally psycho abt ratings. No ID = No purchase. Not that it affects me tho 😀
Depends where you go and whos on the clock, but no we arent as strict here in the States kinda hard to be when parents take their 10 yr. olds to buy GTA4.

But….I guess it actually winds up boiling down to, whether or not the employees at store are vigilent or if some of them just don't give a sh*t about following their company policy.
My local "Gamestop" cards anyone who looks suspect…no ID or underage, no purchase either.
Since I missed out on the PS2 generation, I'm catching up on some of the great games. I'm playing through Shadow of the Colossus right now and I have to cast my vote for Team ICO.
Im hoping Kojima will make a new Zone of the Enders. That series was awesome!!!!
I'd actually like to see the man do something different. But I have a feeling that a third person action game with stealth might be right up his alley….

Metal gear solid prequel, with Raiden as main character, westernised (hack and slash), as well as keeping with the stealth theme, sounds a lot like Tenchu!
A Tenchu style MGS would be brilliant.
He's done with personally working on Metal Gear, so I don't understand why so many people think he will be working on another iteration.
