After Insomniac revealed the next entry in the esteemed action/platforming franchise, we immediately began waiting on fresh details and information. And thanks to the official PlayStation site , we've got the official description, which includes key features.
As you already know, the game picks up where Quest for Booty left off, and you once again venture out to rescue Clank from the evil Dr. Nefarious. Here's the feature listing straight from the site:
Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time is destined to be yet another huge exclusive for Sony's machine, and as always, Insomniac is destined to produce a quality title. This is one of those games that's going to be hotly anticipated, so whenever we stumble across fresh info like this, we'll keep you updated.

SWEEETTT!!!!!!!!!!
can't wait for this!
but when they say customizing weapons… i hope that doesnt mean this will end up like deadlocked
deadlocked was good, but it just lost contact with that classic ratchet and clank feel
but i still think that insomniac will make this a fine finish for the R&C future story arc
True Deadlock was the worst of all the ratchet and clank games
But i did like the deadlock weapons system. I think that they should use deadlock's uprgrade system but keep it original and fun like the older ratchet and clanks. I also want multiplayer 😀
the weapon upgrade system was only different because it had ten levels (all the way to 99 for mega versions)
it was cool though with the alpha mods (speed, more ammo, greater blast radius, etc.)
and of course the omega mods…. those were awesome (acid, napalm, freeze, lightning, morph, etc.)
but still, deadlocked didn't have the same feel
maybe because there wasn't as much platforming
plus you didn't have clank with you!!
i like having either the jet-pack or heli-pack
They should bundle Quest for Booty with this. It would be a nice expansion. Its not like that DLC is big. It could let the players that didnt download or refuse to download it a chance to play the series in sequence.
Look for Quest of Booty in the CE!
Good idea
How much space do you think this sucker will take up?
Probably about 9000Gigs cause of the awesome factor
True dat
Ill buy it if its on a disc, if not then ill just be sad 🙁
They should bundle Q4B with this and sell it on a disc, then i'd be happy.
It's already confirm that is Blu-ray disc.
Wasn't this already confirmed for BD? I thought during the last article on it Ben mentioned that it'd be on disk.
But then he took it back and said PSN.
Wait seriously?
Ben updated the original article to tell people it was a BD release. Check the March archives.

oops your, right I had it backwards *facepalm*
Well I think is finally time for me to pick up Tools of destruction/
Dude you havn't already! go and get it! but i think you might be disapointed waaayy too much to live up to but Q4B did a good job of keeping it fun. W/e any ratchet and clank game is good enouph for me 😀
Hell yeah!
More platforming greatness!
I am not aware if anybody has this same issue with the Ratchet And Clank series as I do. Every R&C game I play, at some point I get bored with the game because as the plot evolves it loses that the ardent element that a good game is supposed to have. A good example on the contrary is Killzone 2. So far I am satified with the game because there is constant intense action. This makes the game in-depth which in return makes me want to play more. When I play R&C it feels like just another mundane adventure video game. I bought Ratchet And Clank Tools Of Destruction a year a ago and I am just half way through the game because of this issue. Does anyone have this same problem, or is just me?
It's just you, because I just love mundane video game adventures like Ratchet & Clank 😉
>=]
I have that problem with the GTA games. I get half way and then everthing just seems to get old and repetitive.
But R&C never bored me with all of it's great atmospheres. (The Pirate theme was getting old though).
That would be on account of the ADHD you suffer from. Apparently a game with a story that lasts more than 6 hours is too long for you to maintain interest which results in feelings of inadequacy and confusion……
OK Seriously? I think maybe you're taking games too casually. I have to say that the story in most FPS games is cursory at best, so when you compare a strong fps game like KZ2 to R&C with respect to story, I really have a lot of trouble seeing your point. In games that have a reasonable length and complexity of story, you have to follow the story to get involved and maintain interest. If you just breeze through a game in an almost mechanical fashion, you will miss all the subtle elements in the story and not connect with it. You can't treat games like R&C as if they were fps games where you move from target to target, they are not that kind of game at all.
yeah, same here timster.

i'd have to say that it's just you
R&C games only get boring after you've gotten every single thing in the game and you've beaten the game like 6 or 7 times
even then its still fun!!
Can'y say i feel the same way… i beat Ratchet and clank up your arsenal like 8 times! still fun tho! have to agree with you on that Qwarktast1c tehe
I'm still confused… is this just going to be a short PSN title or will it be a full length game like Tools of Destruction?
Sorry for being so lost.
It is going to be a full retail game.
thank god its going to be a full retail version
cause i need more than just a simple 4 hours of gameplay to satisfy my hunger for more R&C!! 🙂
I never got into Ratchet & Clank, the platform Genre has been struggling since the begining of the PS2, Jak and Daxter 1 was the last one i really enjoyed. none of the ones nowadays seem to be to the quality of the original Crash Bandicoot Trilogy, they all have guns and weapons now which is really lousy, Jak2 & 3 i sold after i completed becuase they were just boring to replay.
No fear Ultima when the 2001: A space odyssey game comes out you'll finally have something worth while to play.

They Could Pick Up the Difficulty A Bit Up A kNot. The Only Complaint I Have On This Game. Tis So On My To Play List.
Sweet…. I would also like it if they made a special edition that includes quest for booty. I couldn't download it as the broadband in my country is sad…. So I'd really like to play it before I get into "Crack in time"…
I love this series but they should find a way to give us more of a challenge. I dont think they can do it with the platforming cause teh kiddies need to be able to beat it. But they could have less checkpoints and ramp up the difficulty and slow down the pacing for an extreme difficulty. I just played QFB yesterday and it took me like 3 hours and i only died like 5or6 times the whole way through.
Broadband sucks in my country so its bound to get a disc release like quest for booty. Its going 2 be on blueray & its going 2b epic & fun.
Broadband sucks in most places and most countries. Some parts of the US and UK and Japan have absolutely terrific Broadband, low latency and high bandwidth. But most people are on highly congested cable or use DSL and do not live within 500 meters of their local exchange.
This is why the concept of digital delivery for HD video is such a joke. The broadband speeds that the vast majority of ordinary people have simply won't support it. Sure a few geek gliterati in the urban areas have 10s of Mbits/second, but they are rare (and annoyingly smug about it).
This is why OnLive is gonna be a problem too.
Sorry to be a nitpick, Highlander, but some folks have 20 Mbps or more. The company I work for (I won't mention names since this isn't a place for sidelong advertisements) offers a 20 Mbps residential connection. However, as I said, that's just a nitpicky correction. I agree wholeheartedly with the core of your point in regards to most areas not having broadband beyond DSL level.
R&C is such a mainstay of the PlayStation now. I look forward to every R&C release. Quest for Booty was as good as any down-loadable game I've bought. Though it was a monster download.
I love that the feature list is heavy on single player features and does not make mention of an online component. Even if there is some online co-op mode. Insomnia seem to 'get' that a game is about the player that bought it, and not the online community that may or may not form around it.
R&C games traditionally sell well into the long tail, that is they sell well for a long period of time picking up sales in Platinum/Greatest Hits versions as well. Imagine if the game has a major online focus and 6 months after release when the majority of buyers have bought and played the game. The online scene will gradually fade in importance, but if the game focuses on the online aspect to the detriment of the single player game, it will not be much fun for people buying into the game later in it's life. Sure there will probably be a dedicated hardcore group of fans, but they will hardly be newbie friendly.
So, to see no mention of online play in the feature list at this point brings warm and fuzzy feelings to my heart.
I may pick this up 🙂
Q!
"i am home"
sounds like a full game
I grew up with the ratchet and clank series and i compleatly love them so much however i was disapointed in ToD because i found that insomniac was trying too hard and the hype for the game didn't help. I also think that insomniac should not release as much information because i new of the majority of the guns before the game was even released. Maybe i'm just a hardcore fan but ToD didn't seem nearly as hard as any of the others and i feel they could of put so much more into it. The past ratchet games i have played multiple times but this i only played 3 times! But Q4B seemed very well made even though it was only a three hour game.
MAKE IT LONGER THAN TOOLS OF DESTRUCTION!!!!111!
Sorry, but I love the ratchet games. Tools of destruction is still my favorite game on the ps3 to date. It was just soooooo short 🙁
Quest for Booty was the WORST by far of R&C. Dont get me wrong I love R&C but for a 20 minute game for $15 buck. That was a rip!
