Update: According to a recent report over at Ripten, it appears there may be hope for the FFXIII demo coming stateside…stay tuned.

Original Story:

You knew it'd be coming, but a lot of you had questions concerning subtitles, and of course, the hour-long Final Fantasy XIII demo. Well, as you probably expected, we lowly North American gamers won't be getting the latter, but there are plenty of other goodies to expect from "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children."

They have officially announced the Blu-Ray version of "Advent Children" for North America, which is scheduled to release on June 7. As it says there, we can expect beautiful 1080p visuals along with English subtitles if you wish to watch the movie in the original Japanese voices. Also included in this collection:

So yeah, if you're a fan of the legendary franchise, you're likely to be satisfied with this assembly of extra goodies. "Advent Children" was a definite feast for the senses even before it hit Blu-Ray, so if you loved the movie and have access to high definition, this is a no-brainer purchase. It's just too bad that we can't get that demo, which is the primary reason the news of a Blu-Ray version was so huge last year. Well, we assume we'll get a chance to see a lot of that demo soon…we have the Internet, don't we?

The movie was all flashy with no real substance(character-wise), imo.

Now make me a FFX or FFXII movie!

i thought that Advent Children was pretty good…..

but i do agree with the movie part of your statement

make a movie out of FFX

FFX was the best FF in my opinion

should have a ps3 remake that merges X & X-2 together into one storyline and one specific battle system

now that would be great 😉

God no, not an FFXII movie, it would be stretched out to 6 hours with characters wandering landscapes battering monsters, im scared even by the thought of it.

they could make numerous movies from all the FF's up to FFX. they are all the best ones.
especially 5,6,7,8,9. they are the best without a doubt.

I have the dvd version, but I would absolutely love to pick this BD version up when it's released. The regular version is ok, but HD would rule! I hope the mouths move with the english voices this time, that would add a lot for me… it bugged me quite a bit in the regular release, kind of takes you out of it. (much like FFX)

Sadly that's how most anime/cg movies from japan turn out 🙁 sigh, takes too much to try to link up the right words in english after they spoke jap, but at least they do a pretty good job at it

Exclusive look at FF13? I dont think so. It'll just be gameplay videos from the demo and other things we've probably already seen.

As much as I am aversed to the idea of giving SE any more money until they give me a game, I will probably get this because as CG movies go, this one was actually pretty sweet. Maybe I'll play FFVII and then watch it right after. Gotta see 1080p!

Wait, I'm confused. Ben I thought that the jap version would have the jap and eng audio with subs for both. I also thought that since blu ray doesn't have a different region code from us, than we could import it and it'll all be fine, meaning that we could still play the demo just not in English. But as far as the movie goes we still had the option of English audio if we wanted to watch it that way. Can you please clarify this Ben-kun!!!???!!!

No, not Ben-kun.
You must refer to him as Ben-sama.

If they charge 60 bux for this I'll pass. It would be great to see the movie in HD, but I'm not paying a premium to help finance SE's 360 endeavors.

the demo should be exclusive to ps3

regardless if it is on the AC blu ray or not

it was developed as a ps3 exclusive in the beginning and therefore the demo should be just for ps3

I'll definitely stay tune! Cus I was planning to import Advent just for the demo. But if there is a US release then I can wait.
