Ben-DutkaIf you played the first two God of War titles, you're well aware of the violence and brutality. Even with the old PS2 hardware, things could get pretty nasty. But apparently – and this probably won't come as a huge shock – we haven't seen anything yet; the brutality will hit a whole new level in God of War III .
According to PS3Center, the Santa Monica developers showed off portions of the hotly anticipated action blockbuster to members of the press, and they said, "some of these scenes are so violent, they are never going on the Internet – at least not by us. They're just not appropriate for some audiences." In addition to this titillating comment for all you gore-hounds, they also talked about their new "Zipper Technology," which is only possible thanks to the power of the PlayStation 3. This is the application that "allows enemies' skin to slice open realistically," which means we'll be faced with spilling guts and plenty of blood, provided the wound is deep enough. The article cites a recent OPM article, where they reported seeing Kratos gut a centaur…and the stomach, guts and intestines all came out. We're used to seeing some fairly disgusting things in video games, but just typing this makes us a little nauseous, so the final experience ought to be pretty gross. Of course, the next question is, how far can they really take this…?
Well, guess we're gonna find out. And contrary to any supposed "evidence" that GoWIII will come out later this year, the most likely release date still appears to be March 2010. We wish we could just say, "yeah, it might come out this year!" but sadly, it just ain't true.

Ive only played the PSP one. loved it though!
I have 1…never played it…also have 2 but then stopped halfway through when I got stuck

Yay for PS3, but I'm kinda getting sick of all the utterly unbacked "can only be done on PS3" claims.
It would be nice if the 360 and PS3 were 'open' systems (360 has XNA(?), though) so I could see demo crews (ala Atari-Commodore) compete w/ the most incredible visuals…but enough with the lame text scrollers! 😉

Going to agree with you here, The Anti-video game activist are going to be all over this one. I'm sure it will be a cool game but the first parent that realizes they bought this for their kids when it wasn't meant for them, is going to freak out.
I'm sure this will be a cool game for the "appropriate" audience, but I think it's going to bring some bad publicity to video games again.
stupid parent. when I buy a gift, I always check to make sure it is appropriate. parents can't complain when it will have an 18! label on it.
Games are good for the ailing economy, so the activists have to shut up and eat their cardboard picket signs.

I gutted a centaur last weekend too, it was a wild couple nights. (But I'm an adult so it's okay)

Another classic in the making, this is why I prefer the Playstation, more franchise unlike Xbox which doesn't even have 10 great franchise…..
I honestly don't see how this new would not make you want this game. I mean how can it be too gory? Look at everything we have now Silent Hill, Dead Space, RE5, etc. I say if you can't man up and enjoy the greatness this game will be then play what you have or go get a wii or something. Seriously how can you look forward to the game and read this article and change your mind? Like you don't know what GOW is all about anyway.
Because theyre the kind of gamers who dont know what they really want! We have games that when you shoot pregnant aliens, alien babies come at you covered in goop. These are the kind of gamers that should witness a pig slaughtering!!! Theyre not really ready for the "ALPHA POWER" of GOW 3! Its a damn centaur for cryin out loud. Theyre actin like you threw threre parents in the ring with Kratos!!!! I hope they go farther than this! I hope you can pull their leg bones out & use them as clubs. I want to be amazed! How could you play GOW 2 & not be on "pins & needles" for this game! Complaing about zippertech & velcro tear……….Hopefully they have something called jewel snatch because were gonna send Kratos to your cribs to snatch ya doinks off!!!!!!!!!!!!!! @ SPS3 stfu, last time i checked there was nothing wrong or illegal to be a little squemish and i could be wrong but last time i checked im sure i'm entitled to my opinion, this doesnt mean i dont know what type of game i want as you so elequently put it, i enjoyed all 3 GOW so far and the next one will be a day one purchase. the next time you want to have a rant at someone because their thoughts differ from your own, just remember there is no right or wrong answer and we are all entitled to our own opinion.
Obviously it's gonna be rated M for MATURE! So if parents are worried about their kids playing it, well call DFS and get those kids in a home where the parents are the parents, not the gaming console! I'm looking forward to playing this adult oriented game. Even if it gets slapped with and AO rating, I'll find a copy and play it. GoW is a solid series, can't wait!

Should be rated Adults only but what does it matter most places to buy games have the college kids for Obama working there who beleive art shouldnt censored and since video games are considered art on sooooo many levels (and I truely believe this. No sarcasm) will just sell it to them anyway parents none the wiser.
If it has an AO rating you won't be playing it on your PS3 🙂 Sony has said many times they refuse to release AO games for some reason, which is why Manhunt 2 had to be changed.
