Sony could've done a better job with the advertising and promotion, but in many ways, the latter took care of itself thanks to the Internet. Now, Killzone 2 has surpassed its first sales milestone.

Although we don't have the official numbers from the NPD just yet, VGChartz is reporting that KZ2 has already hit 1 million sold worldwide. It has only been available for about two weeks and in the first weekend alone, it managed to sell over 700,000 copies in North America and Europe; less than two weeks later, the excellent FPS has hit the 1 million mark. Now, Sony mentioned in the past they expect KZ2 to sell as many or more copies than last year's gem, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots , and it may be possible. At last check, MGS4 had sold 4.5 million units over the span of about 6 months, so to pass it, Killzone 2 is going to have to sell more than 3.5 million copies in the next five and a half months…if Sony steps up the marketing a bit and more and more people start purchasing PS3s, that might just happen. Either way, the game is certainly one of the best we've ever seen and if you haven't yet had the pleasure, it's time to do your part and up that sales number.

The immediate competition is Resident Evil 5 , but as far as we're concerned , there's really no comparison. RE5 is fun if you were a fan of RE4 and aren't expecting anything too new, but KZ2 is gonna rock no matter who you are.
