We better hope that Capcom's vow to be a multiplatform publisher in the new generation holds fast, because Lost Planet 2 has just been announced…and we're not entirely sure if it's coming to the PlayStation 3. It should be, but…
This highly anticipated sequel was revealed in a special trailer, exclusive to Xbox Live (which you can view here ), and we have to admit, the game looks great. It took a little while for Capcom to bring Lost Planet: Extreme Condition to the PS3, but since then, everything the publisher has done has included both Sony and Microsoft's machines (DMC4, SFIV, and RE5 are good examples). Therefore, we have to assume Lost Planet 2 is headed to the PS3 as well, but we can't seem to locate any confirmation. For the time being, we'll just have to revel in that announcement trailer, which should excite fans of the original. While the first one had a few problems, it was still a fairly solid action game that featured plenty of kick-ass mechs; you can expect more of the same in the sequel. Based on what we see and hear in that trailer, it appears that Capcom is embracing the "bigger and better" philosophy for LP2, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. Let's just hope the game gets confirmed for both consoles some time soon. They won't leave PS3 owners out in the cold (pun intended), right?
We know Dead Rising 2 is scheduled to be a multiplatform release, too, so why should Lost Planet 2 receive any special treatment?
