If every developer takes a hint from Criterion and begins to look at extra downloadable content as a long-term dedication, we'll all have continually enhanced experiences. The newest add-on pack for Burnout Paradise should drop this Thursday on the PlayStation Store, so get ready for the Legendary Cars!
Announced towards the end of last year, the Legendary Cars Pack features four new vehicles that are like nothing else in the game. The first car Criterion unveiled was the Jansen 88 Special (pictured here), which is a carbon copy of the "Back to the Future" DeLorean. It's not just fast; it can freakin' fly! That's right, set it to hover mode and zip along Paradise streets, although we assume you won't be transported to another time once you hit 88 miles per hour. They revealed the other three cars just a few days later: we'll get the Nighthawk (a super-secret, ultra-rare version of the Carson GT), the Bootlegger (a classic modified Hunter Cavalry), and the Manhattan Spirit ("reimaging" of the Hunter Manhattan). According to a recent Twitter update by Criterion's PosterBoy, this Legendary Cars Pack will drop in just a few days time, and you can pick them up individually are all together in a packaged set. Criterion hasn't confirmed this yet and we don't have a price, but we'd like to think the rumor has a good chance of coming true. After all, hasn't it been – what – two or three days since the last Paradise update? That's just too damn long!
Really, these guys are going above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to downloadable content, and that is not a bad thing. They just keep giving you more incentive to toss the ol' disc back into the system and if you haven't picked up the game yet, well…look what you're missing!
