The latest report from the Square-Enix camp is that Dragon Quest IX has been delayed. …we'll wait for a moment, because we're certain our readership will want to shed some tears over that (no offense to those who actually will). Anyway, the reason why this disaster is off interest to us is…
Well, according to IT Media, Yoichi Wada made mention of Final Fantasy XIII during his announcement that DQIX was getting pushed from March to July. And this really isn't the kind of mention you want. Check it out:
"The next term's schedule has been fixed yet. Presently, I cannot say what kind of effect we will experience from moving the Dragon Quest IX launch from March to July. I cannot say there won't be an effect. There is a possibility that Dragon Quest IX delay could effect Final Fantasy XIII."
Oh man, you gotta be kidding. Why should the DQIX delay have an adverse effect on FFXIII? Are they allocating resources in a certain way that would cause FFXIII to slip? The rumor now is that the hotly anticipated RPG may not hit Europe until 2011 at this point, and we might be lucky to see it in North America during the second half of 2010. Now, from what we've seen so far, we're impressed with the visuals and the gameplay potential, but we're hoping FFXIII doesn't start to entertain the dreaded "vaporware" label. …all because of a DQIX delay? Really ?
