Why should we care about Uncharted 2: Among Thieves ? Oh, that's a silly question this time around, but it was perfectly legitimate when MTV Multiplayer asked producer Sam Thompson the same question in regards to the original title a few years ago.
This time, the answer still caused Thompson to elaborate, even though it seems as if the entire gaming world is already caught up in the sequel's hype. According to Thompson, it's really all about enhanced realism and authenticity; about giving players the chance to control an actual human rather than a superhero. We got this feeling when controlling Drake in the first game, but it'll be even more pronounced in Uncharted 2 . He'll stumble, hang dangerously from precipices, and continually face extremely difficult – if not nigh-on impossible – odds. It's also about the emotional attachment. Said Thompson:
"Theres a part where Drake has to snap to cover. The bullets are flying, and hes outgunned. Out-manned. You can see the sweat on his face. At that moment you actually feel what hes feeling in the game the character connects with the player. And the game is full of moments like that."
Players will have to "time button-presses to fist-fighting animations" as they did in the original, but you will face stiffer consequences if you mess it up in the sequel. This time, if you miss with an attack, the enemy can grab Drake while he's off-balance and put the hurt on. yeah honestly i bought the first one late not cus i thought it wouldnt be good but i explained it as a normal person with a gun like u have above Ben, and not a superheo… anyways i loved it and im actually starting it again to get trophies, and to catch up on and get me ready for Uncharted 2.
The game looks amazing and i have been keeping up with Arnold and everytime he talks about it the news is better and better. which is awesome cus if it out does the first one, (which by the looks of things it has) it has done an amazing feat considering how good it was!

the demo put me off the first, then i randomly got it and loved it!
For some reason, Drake just screams America, much like Dr. Jones does… I love it. It's games like this that keep me interesting in this hobby.

The first Uncharted is one of my favorite games ever and it's still the best looking console game I've played. Needless to say I'm really looking forward to Uncharted 2.
Naughty Dog surprises me everyday with this game and how much they are improving/adding from the first.
In somewhat other related news, ND was interviewed by G4 earlier and after being asked about coop/MP, they stated that it's something to think about, but right now they're more concerned on getting the SP to be the best thing that ever happened to gaming… brings tears to my eyes.. =.)

I was hyped about Uncharted: Drake's Fortune when it was first mentioned, so I'm completely stoked about Uncharted 2. Had so much fun with the first one so I know Amongst Thieves will just blow me away. Can't wait for this one. I must say 2009 is a very very good year to own a PS3…. Not that 2008 wasn't but 2009 is just keeping it on that path of domination… Woop-woop.
I trust Naughtydog almost as much as KP. They make good games and Uncharted for some reason just has that "something" that makes me want to put it in occasionally and relive that intense WTF feeling when the "spaniards" made their debut. That hit me like a truck and for some reason(maybe immersion….yeah im gonna go with immersion) I did not see that coming. A small part for sure but a turning point that kind of cemented it in my mind. A nice surprise.

I have total faith in ND seeing how far they took the first game. U2 will be gorgeous & glorious. I hope they use at least 80% of the PS3s processing power. I believe theyll address the smallest of details. This game will be a definite milestone in PS3 software & capabilities. Again, this will raise standards that'll be set in stone. Bring on the masterpiece Naughty Dog!!!
its suppose to use 100% of the ps3s power, but than so was killzone 2 and that only uses 60% most of the time.
but you have to wonder, if there using 100% of the ps3s power so early whats the point?
sony wants it to last 10 years, this is the third year.
its a bit early to be maxing out a console that has supposed 7 years left dont you think?
Because they havn't optimised it. They have created a base, then they work around it.
nah the earlier the better! That way every game from here on out (will not every — I can't see multiplat games being close to what ND is doing) will be using somewhere close to 100% of the PS3's power, meaning the best of games to come for another 7 years! 😉

Using 100% of the power available now doesn't mean you won't get more out in future with better coding, compression and god knows what else they'll find -you know how it goes when someone claims to max something out!
Aannywaaay, U2 will be fabulous and to hear them say they're concentrating on the SP is just the best news I've heard all week. If only RE5 would let me play that on my own!
Yeah, that girl in the demo was problematic. I wish I could tell her to "Wait Here". She takes away from the "atmosphere".
I wish RE5 controled like Uncharted did…the game would just flow better. I'm skipping RE5 and FEAR 2 purchase, for now. KZ2 is just too close.

Exactly why Uncharted will be one of the best action/adventure games of all time.It is natural,regular weapons,no sophisticated resistance-halo-gears weapons.Reason why Resi5 will remain my best for the meantime while Uncharted is getting done.

I've had Uncharted since Xmas 2007 and I haven't gotten around to playing it yet.. I vow to spend this long weekend staying indoors and completing Drake's Fortune in its entirety. I know I know, how could I have waited this long?
Wow man…I can't see how anyone could own a game for over a year and not have played it. If you are that busy, you might as well trade it in or just…I don't know…uh…just why not?
Yeah i kno, I just got sidetracked with other games and stuff. I know I spend countless hours on Madden, but UnCharted was an xmas gift I just never got around too, but I'm very excited to play it, especially hearing all the great things from everyone about it.

My problem is… I finished Drake's Fortune on "normal" when it first came out (no trophies). Then I finished it again on Normal to get all the trophies.
Now, I have to finish it in its entirety on "Hard" and "Crushing" to get my Platinum trophy! (yes, I want my Platinum)
Not sure when I can get around to doing that, seeing as I'm quite immersed in Fallout 3, at the moment…sigh…
Good luck with that. I beat it on Crushing and let me tell you there was MANY frustrating moments. BUT, I absolutely loved this game and still break it out once in a while. It's the only game that I earned a platinum.
no you dont the trophies stack.
i finished the game on hard and crushing (crushing is [email protected]@@**G HARD) and i still got the plat.
it takes a while with a lot of patience but you will eventually get it.
thats got to be the easiest game to get plat on.

Sony needs to license the Killzone 2 and/or Uncharted 2 engines to developers for use on the PS3 just like the Unreal engine.
This way PS3 owners get consistently beautiful games.
Yeah that would be good, but hopefully they'd limit it to just 1st party games and developers exclusive to Sony.
Great idea! That would be so awesome for Sony's exclusive developers to collaborate amongst each other about coding,technique,engines, & experiences. PS3 developer "brotherhood" would sound so sweet indeed!!!!
