It didn't take long to verify if that supposedly leaked teaser trailer was legit, as today's announcement has quickly clarified everything.
According to D+PAD, Capcom has finally confirmed that Dead Rising 2 is currently in development for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. The sequel to the popular zombie slaying extravaganza – which wasn't available on the PS3, as most of you know – will indeed utilize a Las Vegas-like setting: Fortune City will be the undead's home, and it'll be up to you to eliminate the threat. One of the original's most appealing features was the ability to use just about anything you could find to smash zombies, and considering you were in a mall, there were literally hundreds of experimental make-shift weapons. Fortune City should offer something similar, and we can't wait to dive into the bloody goodness. Capcom has teamed up with Blue Castle Games to work on Dead Rising 2 , and many members of the original team will stay on, including Capcom's global head of research and development, Keiji Inafune. He will be the game's producer. As for more in the way of details, we can expect those to arrive in due time, and we'll also hope for an estimated release date.
At this point, it's just good news to know that the sequel is indeed headed to the PS3. There was talk of porting the first title over to Sony's machine, but it got to a point where all we wanted was the sequel…and now we have it. Yay! Capcom certainly wasn't lying about their commitment to multiplatform production, huh?.

Does this not clash with RE5 to some degree?
Q!
"i aM hOMe"
I would say not as it is a different type of game. The only similarity is that your fighting zombies.
i dont know if it really matters and i dont want to seem rude but in dead rising and previous resident evils you are fighting zombies…..but in re4 and 5 you are fighting "not-quite" zombies…..its the las plagas……jus saying
'eexxxcellent'
i loved mowwing down zombies in the original with the….lawnmower ;p
Cool!
I think Capcom have been much more consistent with the "make everything multiplat" strategy than other company I dont want to mention. BTW, this game was initially a x360 exclusive cause the PS3 wasnt out when it was released.
PSN ID: raztad
and people from G4tv.com didn't believe me about this!! i knew it was coming to PS3 just like Lost Planet 2 and Bioshock 2

its the…eye of the tiger ~sings~ just another title we get to be less of an attraction to get a poxbox:)
Its about damn time. Another no life game! Jeez! my girlfriend is gonna hate me.
Capcom didn't get to be the size it is by ignoring gamers. If gamers are flocking to the PS3, why would you only put out 360 exclusives? They don't waste time either, why port an old game? Just bring out the sequel. Good on Capcom.
Jurrassic Park!!!
i'll definatly be getting this 😀
I believe there is a god
Yo Ben:
I'm going a little off topic. But I'm still livid about ace combat. Me and my friends had a long talk about this. Yes i know capcom's title is the topic, but namco needs to tell us something.
@big-e, yeah, gotta agree with you on Ace Combat,!
I was shell-shocked was shocked to see it's flame out, ejecting it right into the aggressor's HQ.
But, I have complete confidence that our wingmen will indeed re-set it's navigation system, enabling all future flights to hone right back to our force's homebase).
Being a huge fan of all things zombie, L4D and DR 1 were the only 2 reasons I was thinking about getting a 360. I told myself if DR 2 was exclusive, I would get one. But now, I can save that money and buy RE5 and Godfather 2 (and this when it comes out). Bravo Capcom. Maybe they can give Valve a lesson in sharing there games with the other consoles on the block (bastards).

who doesnt love zombies? I've been dreaming about the zombiepocalypse for so long now(i even have an escape plan), L4D it isn't that great imo…ZOMBIES DON'T RUN
yeah i must admit, i bought the 360 for L4D and deadrising…
How do you know zombies don't run? Seen a few in person?
Sweet. Keep the good zombie games coming. Especially if it'll help me hone my skills for a full blown zombie contamination in vegas.
give me co op or give me death….then let me come back as a zombie
The 1000th 360 Exclusive that has come to us! Lol.
Booooooooooooooooooooooh!
I'll be lost since I never got to play the first one
Oh and why didn't I play it? It was never released for ps3!
I have Deadrising on 360, and now I will buy DR2 on the ps3!! I can't wait, more zombie killing action is needed on the ps, let's just hope this is a start. I also hope the Nazi Zombie spin-off sequel will materialize, developers have to start taking notice that people ENJOY zombie games.
I didn't like the controls in Dead Rising, so for me this needs to be changed.
Haha this is great news!
I remember playing this game at a friend's house
(who now has a ps3 because of me woot! Jus spreadin' the word of the gaming gods man- they call him Kratos, by the way as he's expanding into areas other than 'War' now) and I used a scythe like weapon, and the animation for jabbing it in their necks, stepping over the weapon and yanking the head clean off was truly inspiring! (In game animation ways- not murderous ones)
I love Capcom because they've always been doing good things for gamers.
For example(a bit off topic about which game console, but), just look at their humongus monstor 2-pieced simululator/controller that came around 1999-2000, but made only for the Xbox!
It consists of a 3-block cockpit controller with 2 joysticks, 40 functioning back-lit buttons, toggle switches, etc, & a separate floor block with 3 huge foot pedals.
Capcom put out this controller out to make for an entirely brand new virtual experience in the mech war VT(virtual tank) game, "Steel Battalion" series.
Damn, whenever I go play it, I'm still amazed at the detailed workmanship & all that it does(I have the rare blue button model(green buttoned one was the norm).
For those who've never saw it, or hadn't the chance to play it(since it was retailed at around $200 & up), here's some good info on it

I'm glad we're getting the sequel, but I would still love to get my hands on the original. Do you know whether or not it's a definate no-no to be ported, for either BD or Digital Download?
So you're saying we'll be able to move around the whole city?!!! AWESOME.
I never played the first one but I always wanted to as it seemed fun… So I'm excited about the new one coming to the PS3. Kinda ''fills'' the gap that RE series has left with moving away from the standard Zombies… It has always been fun taking out zombie's, especially if you can use anything you find…. bats, pool sticks, roulette wheels, and everything you might find in that setting… Hopefully you'll get some guns as well, the good old shotgun is always fun when used on soft fleshed zombies…
Hmm, my favorite things to do on DR1? Getting the chain saw and scythe from the hardware store and declaring war on everything half-dead. I swear i raked in 5000 kills in that one area alone. Hell I didn't even start doing missions until my first 3 days were up.
The game is so open minded that you could just kill zombies without even attempting to play through the game, much like grand theft auto. You'd think killing the zombies would get old…boy are you mistaken. The only thing I'd want included in the sequel is co-op split screen, better ally A.I., and more prominent save points.
