Well, after such a lengthy delay, one should've already assumed that the next step would be outright cancellation. Such seems to be the fate of the long-awaited Indiana Jones video game.

According to UK site DarkZero, the end has come for the next-gen Indy adaptation. After the announcement that LucasArts was working on Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings for Wii, DS, PS2 and the PSP, everyone started to wonder if the much anticipated PS3/360 version was still being developed simultaneously with this new project. Unfortunately, a LucasArts representative has confirmed that the team has decided to focus entirely on Staff of Kings , and have opted to "end development" of the PS3/360 game. Said the rep:

"We want to bring consumers an Indy experience in 2009 following the successful launch of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in 2008. The next-gen skus would not be ready for the 2009 window so we made a strategic business decision to end development on PS3 and Xbox 360."

Part of the Indy game hype was that it would be the first to utilize NaturalMotion's Euphoria technology in order to accurately depict human behavior via in-game animations. But as each new deadline came and went, that technology ended up going into the likes of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and Grand Theft Auto IV . So sadly, despite the patiently waiting fans, a new Indiana Jones for the PS3 and 360 seems to be out of the question. Well, there are other awesome games on the way, right?

They would have made a lot more money if they made this game for the 360 & PS3. Oh well, at least GT5, Uncharted 2, & the next Halo are coming up soon.

How can you make half a game and just cancel it. I just don't get it. Waste of peoples time.

bout time. I saw like 4 screenshots of this game is the past like 3 years. NaughtyDog already took that type of action/adventure game…last year.

A lot too late LucasArts. Now got work on KOTOR and Battlefront 3 (Man, I hope the continue development on that game).

Guess I'll never play it. I'm not buying a Wii. Ever.

Not that I will be missing out on anything. Since when has LucasArts created stellar software? Never.

LucasArts has given us lots of good games. Still, i would rather they make a sequel to the best Jones game – Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis

I saw the last indiana jones movie and well it was alright but not as good as the first 3 in any means. I wouldn't play the game anywase, i'm really not interested in another game based on a movie unless it's starwars but i have always loved that franchise.

Lucasarts has lost it's way, they are more concerned about churning out mediocre star wars games rather than doing what made them famous. creating new, innovative IP
that added variety to the gaming scene. I lament the lost days of Monkey Island and Full Throttle. when Star wars games were exciting and Kyle Katarn and Jan Ors flew the galaxy in the moldy crow. Damnit! Lucasarts, remember the "art" in your name and become a force for good (games) in the world once again!!

I don't think it matters to anyone wether the games came out this year following the film release in '08, or if it comes out in 2010. A good game is a good game and we ould buy the game if thats the case.
The character animation looked awesome on the euphoria tech.
