Well, after such a lengthy delay, one should've already assumed that the next step would be outright cancellation. Such seems to be the fate of the long-awaited Indiana Jones video game.
According to UK site DarkZero, the end has come for the next-gen Indy adaptation. After the announcement that LucasArts was working on Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings for Wii, DS, PS2 and the PSP, everyone started to wonder if the much anticipated PS3/360 version was still being developed simultaneously with this new project. Unfortunately, a LucasArts representative has confirmed that the team has decided to focus entirely on Staff of Kings , and have opted to "end development" of the PS3/360 game. Said the rep:
"We want to bring consumers an Indy experience in 2009 following the successful launch of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in 2008. The next-gen skus would not be ready for the 2009 window so we made a strategic business decision to end development on PS3 and Xbox 360."
Part of the Indy game hype was that it would be the first to utilize NaturalMotion's Euphoria technology in order to accurately depict human behavior via in-game animations. But as each new deadline came and went, that technology ended up going into the likes of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and Grand Theft Auto IV . So sadly, despite the patiently waiting fans, a new Indiana Jones for the PS3 and 360 seems to be out of the question. Well, there are other awesome games on the way, right?
