Rumor: PS3 Version Of Tekken 6 To Have Exclusive DLC

Although the long-running and revered Tekken franchise is no longer exclusive to a Sony platform, it seems there may be the possibility that the PlayStation 3 version of Tekken 6 might get exclusive downloadable content.

According to HipHopGamer, the current rumor says the PS3 version will receive some extra DLC that won't be available on the Xbox Live Marketplace. Namco did use the Cell processor to produce the game for the arcades so one would like to think there would be some exclusive stuff for the PS3 version, right? Supposedly, this extra content will feature more stages, more characters, and perhaps even new skills for certain characters. The latter would actually make the DLC quite valuable for fighting fans; it would enhance the gameplay and add longevity to the experience. Now, in terms of fighting games, you may recall what Namco did with Soul Calibur IV : they issued a special character for each the PS3 and 360 version; Darth Vader for Sony owners and Yoda for Microsoft owners. Therefore, it could be very possible that the same publisher would do something with another high-priority fighter. Whether it comes in the form of DLC or special stuff that ships with each version of the game, we don't know, but it's worth mentioning.

We'd love to get an estimated release date; you know, something beyond "Q3 2009." The only question is, with Capcom's Street Fighter IV dropping this month, Namco will have their work cut out for them. What will get Fighter of the Year in 2009…?

Yeah, I'm still disappointed that Kratos wasn't an exclusive character in Soul Calibur 4. He was tailor made for that game.

It wouldn't be fair. Kratos would own too hard.

The game itself should've been exclusive to PS3, its a PlayStation game.

In reality the situation is this:

"A feeble attempt to reconnect with the Playstation audience after selling out and porting the game to another system who's fanbase has never cared about the Tekken franchise to begin with."

I think DLC is a scam especially when games are being manufactured on blue ray discs. There is no reason whatsoever why all this "extra content" is not on the disc to begin with. Needless to say I avoid Namco, SE, and EA products like the plague. I did however purchased Crisis Core for my girlfriend only because it was on sale on Amazon for 14.99 😀

T6 since has not lived up 2 my expectations wich to add more realism to the gameplay. What they just did looks like a Circus act where every character seem to have gone to juggling school. Blood rebellion added 2 characters that dont fit in to the tekken universe. I am still going to play the game though but i dont know if it going to hold my attention for long. Any word of Virtua Fighter 5R console port this game is on another level. Dead or Alive would be sweet love the animation & how it looks when playing it.

Uh. I don't know how a robot girl and an army guy with funny hair doesn't fit into a world with fighting kangaroos, fighting bears, fighting velociraptors, Yoshimitsu, giant rabits, time traveling Chinese school girls, and the Mishima family dynamic.

No fighting game has been "realistic". Tekken has always had people jumping twenty some odd feet into the air, or punching people twenty some odd feet into the air. So has Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Virtua Fighter, King of Fighters, Soul Calibur… so on and so forth.

I don't understand this argument.

All I can say is they better not charge for this. When you stick a knife in someones back you can't charge them for the stitches.

when it come down fighters iv always held Tekken above all (not including Fight Night which is awsome) i didnt even acknowledge the others. although i thought Virtua Fighter dominated when it came down to graphics but the game play didnt messure up to Tekken. IMO never liked SC or DOA well except for the level transitions. but now that a NEW Street Fighters is coming out Tekken no longer seems to be top dog.
hopefully with the success of MK vs DC Midway will produce a NEW MK to get its statis back.

I could'a swore Namco announce September 30th as the release date for Tekken 6. I'm still debating whether or not to get it after finding out that Namco's been really shaddy with the DLC for Soul Calibur IV. I did not like learning that I had already owned all the DLC as it was stored ON the disc, and I was charged for unlocking the content. That's like giving someone a drink and then charging them for drinking it.

i love Tekken, have done since tekken 2,its the most technical fighter iv'e ever played along with killer instinct(i miss fulgore)
i'm with everyone on the whole not charging for DLC,its the least they could do,tekken owes alot to the playstation.
i was hoping that this gen tekken would do away with all the flashy lights during super moves & counters attacks, instead gone 4 more realistic looking skin on the fighters (still look like catoons) & changed the metallic sounds with a more sickning bone meets bone sound like in a real mui thai fight.
but i'll still play it because i love law(bruce lee!!) & i love doing my 7 hit throw combo with king.

I like Tekken, but I doubt I'll buy the game, maybe rent it. I don't care if PS gets exclusive stuff. It doesn't really matter, I once loved Tekken, but it doesn't get me that excited anymore. There are enough great exclusives this year. As long as it plays as well as the Xbox version. DLC is a rip off. There are very few games that I would pay 10$ to play a couple of extra hours or get a new character. The only DLC I have bought right now, or would consider buying is the LBP stuff, it's priced right. The big deal with MS getting all the DLC content doesn't bother me. I never even played Fallout 3, and I own GTA, it's a great game, but I got bored before I finished the main story and I stopped. I don't think it's really for me, but I appreciate it's coolness.

T6:Bloodline rebellion is already awesome as it is. I hope this is true, but seriously, fu** 360. It's not confirmed to be on 360 is it?

Yeah it's been confirmed, M$ basically did the same thing as with SE, they made a big announcement about it at some convention…and of course that's all they could come up with…again

Let me guess namco look at the ps3 sales compare them to 360, so I guess namco don't care about us die hard fans for tekken, the funny part about this is a few people I know who got a 360 and not a ps3 and they said they are not interested in tekken 6 they prefer dead or alive instead tekken 6. To ps3 tekken die-hard fans thats not fair to us we appreciate tekken but not alot of 360 owners don't. Developers seem to forget there die-hard supporters, I guess die-hard fans aren't important anymore. I Understand developers need to make money multiplatform games, but for them to say ps3 userbase is small they must had one to many drinks. You mean to tell me out of 21million ps3 users u can't sell 1 to 5million units exclusive look at mgs4 selling 6 millions because of the ps3 is big and mgs is popular, tekken franchise is very popular Im sure namco can sell at least 1-6 million units because its very popular in the playstation brand. I think M$ had to pay namco. Its just my opinion. I

Nice. I was hoping for some good news after I learned that Tekken 6 was multiplat. I do believe that it will do better on the PS3, though.

Wasn't the likes of FF and Tekken on everyone's list of reasons for a ps3? Luckily, they weren't the only reasons.

I still have Tekken 1,2,3,4,5 after losing 6 as an exclusive it makes me hella mad. Another namco exclusive ace combat 1,2,3,4,5 and 6 as a xbox360 exclusive.
Those namco bitches took that Microsoft check and said F*** sony. Ace combat was the only reason for me to get a 360.

Why on earth anyone would ever want to play Tekken on a 360 controller is beyond me…
