The contrast is bizarre. Throughout 2008 and especially towards the end of the year, there were countless PlayStation Home headlines. Granted, a lot of them were focused on a possible launch date, but there were tons of other articles, including interviews, editorials, and pieces presenting plenty of new information/details. Then, the momentous event came in December and… 'looks around' Where the hell did it go ?
Of course, this industry is insanely fickle. As impossible as it may seem now, come April, there won't be six trillion Killzone 2 headlines splattered all over the Internet. But Home isn't a video game; it's an innovative online service designed to change the way we interact with the PlayStation community. It's a landmark achievement in the realm of virtual communication. Yes, it's all of those things and yet… nobody is talking about it! No one has anything to say! There's nothing bad, nothing good, just…nothing. We're aware there aren't any new updates right now, and we're certain any new additions to Home will get headlines, but it just seems as if Home would have more weekly attention. Given the amount of hype and the sheer number of people who were anxiously awaiting its release, you would think that, at the very least, feedback would be showing up all over the place in the form of op-ed pieces. But no; game journalists apparently have nothing more to add, and it's even hard to find mention of Home in forums.
We're not saying Home isn't popular – we have no idea if it is; we'd like some rough numbers concerning activity – and we're not saying it doesn't have the same awesome potential it had last year. Personally, I knew I'd never be too enthralled with the idea no matter how advanced it got, but I know plenty of PlayStation 3 owners who just loved the idea. They're tooling around in Home from time to time; I know they are. But they just don't have much to say , and maybe that's just because there isn't much to talk about right now. I still find it exceedingly strange that something so gigantic can literally fall off the face of the planet in a matter of a few weeks . Well, maybe it's just because the media's role in this phenomeon is over, and instead of avid Home users going online to talk about it, they go into HOME to talk about it. You know, with other users. I suppose that's a possibility, but even so…
I wasn't really expecting home to be anything long lasting honestly.
PS3 owners want to spend time playing games. I would think that the friends they do have are either online tearing it up or in real life. I never really got why anyone would spend a vast amount of time in it.
I feel something similar. However, if Sony can put up all of their content (speeches, etc.) from E3 and other conferences in a virtual theater, that would be fantastic.
For me, friends online are great, but playing the games is greater.
It has potential, but i agree with you while i was curious to see what it is, there is nothing in there that interests me. but every time i do log on it seems to have quite a few people.
They need more stuff.
Like have people be able to ride skateboards are bikes and make parks for em.
It could be great. Its up to Sony to want to.
Woah…who's the naked broad in your profile picture…
Like my new pic huh?
I dont see anyone bitching about this haha.
Im not complaining cause the girl knows more than you about the only thing the X360 is good for, other than a doorstop.
what you think my gf would say if she saw me in this site with that pic, joshua ?
Tell her what happens when she dates a Xbox guy;)

Why would a hot gurl date a xbox guy? Xbox don't have a PS3 because they can't afford it. Hot gurls LOVE money. Any time a guy can dish out $600 for a ps3 is something spectacular!
^^^Now that was a stupid comment.
90 percent of girls dont give 2 thoughts about gaming. Not to mention that a hardly dought any women on earth would date a guy because he has a PS3. That goes for a 360 to.
I guess 90% of girls don't give 2 thoughts towards grammar or spelling either…

^^The perfect comeback when you have no real response.
I still dislike joshua as an xbot but I have to agree with him
^^+1
I was joking around with you josh, so there was no need to call my comment stupid. But that brings me to another thing. You sure as hell did get defensive. Maybe you are broke?
Plus your comment under mine totally contradicts your comment above mine. You say no woman would date anyone for a ps3 or 360, but you say "tell her thats what happens when she dates an xbox guy"
Now I understand you were just joking, but since you felt the need to be a kill joy and take MY JOKE to heart, I'll do the same to your post.
So my post may have been stupid, but you ACTED stupid.
To ellaborate on moose88's comment:
If you try to make anyone look stupid, then it would be wise to use better spelling. Would you become offended if a Retard called you a Retard? I sure as hell wouldn't be…

Im far from broke.
But you took it to seriously I guess. Oh well thats what I hate about online..You cant let the person know how you mean it when you say it..
they need to push forward, they need to upgrade each region with the same things.. currently the UK is the worst HOME followed by Japan. we have nothing.. at least Japan has the Namco arcades and darts, but still.. even if the US and UK region had new upgrades, we wouldnt know because there is no advertising on HOME.
Personally, I think they should force you to be on HOME. I think HOME should be the face of the PS3, if youre not online then fine use the XMB, but I think that first port of call when turning on the PS3 should be HOME.
You start off in your flat, you dont have to leave it.. but thats the whole point, at least your using home.. you might even venture outside.
I know a lot of people who havent even tried HOME, so I say make them use it.. at the end of the day nothing changes apart from a truly unique XMB for the PS3!
correction currently the UK one is the best home lol
US has nothing…at…all.
this is exactly how i feel about it.
home should be your HOME on the ps3. it should be the default setting as opposed to the xmb. every new ps3 should have a little instruction manual that explains what home is and how it works. if you want to switch to an xmb and never deal with home, fine, but at least make it there for everyone from the start.
in your apartment, you should have your trophy case, a bravia to watch movies on, some virtual picture frames to show off your photos, a sony reciever to play your music, etc.
then, you could leave your apartment and go hang out with other people, which would essentially be going online and laoding the home community, or just stay in it and play ps3 all day.
no no, i'm from the UK and i can tell you there is nothing.
they did add that psp hunt thing but it only interested me for about 10minutes
I've been in both US and UK HOME and US has more, but only just a little.
I think it still has a large hype but now that it's out like anything else it's being used, when people desperatly want something they talk a lot about it in hopes that the game publishers will hear our voice once they do, we shut up and enjoy. It's like that on all consoles. I enjoy home but i've been in home for a long time due to being in the first string of beta testers awhile back. Once they bring more and more things for it,the hype will pick up agian, look at the 360's (wii mii rip off) people were all over the making an avatar with their 360 and now you really don't hear much about that and the same goes for the Wii.
ROBOCHIC:
You and share the same thought.
if they'd give me a lcd tv and cool music set up for my apartment & summer house to let my friends stream or download video & music and vice versa plus a free pool table,i'd spend alot more time hanging out in HOME
They also need to sort out game launching with buddies, from what i can tell the only game that works in euro servers is warhawk.
PSN ID:lord_carlos
Amen, the apartment needs to be better like it was once advertised.
there is a new update to the europe one, adding a leader board to red bull, the new event space has also been added.
I got into the closed beta, downloaded the client and freaked out because of the 4GB HDD usage.
I fool around a couple of times, and after 2 weeks or so, erased all Home files from my HDD and since then not logged in again. Never been in Home since the beta got opened.
Hello there folks..
Home is weird for me. When I first used it I was thinking I would be able to launch games while in it. I couldnt believe that you had to exit the dam thing to start games up. It suddenly hit me that there wasnt anything I could use it for (but playing pool/bowling and speaking to people) and that wore off really quick..
(christ they need to get rid of that kindergarden / dance bit in the main square, soon as you see a load of tards in a line dancin, you know u got to question why you just loged in to it)
Obviously, Im not taking in to account what they may bring to it in the future, but for now, its not workin for me.
Im not sure you should be forced to use it as someone said above. I kind of see you point (to get more developer / outside support for it), but I still think you should have the option to just quickly use the cross media bar to get to stuff, just my opin though..
As soon as I installed and launched the closed Home beta I tried to launch a game from within Home only to be told, to my surprise, that that feature wasn't "configured" or something similar.
Dammit Sony, you promised us we could launch games from within Home! Why is the option there on our mobiles?
In all honesty, Home has fallen far short of what Sony promised. Considering it's been in closed beta since sometime in 2007, and considering all the feedback Sony's undoubtedly gotten, I can't believe how boring the software is. And don't give me the "IT'S STILL IN BETA" schtick as a reason. Gmail was awesome when it first launched, and it was in beta.

im with ya there carlos, ….Least you would have everything and more within a few steps.
i honestly haven't been on home since the second week of its release
Home is kinda gay…LOL no offense I'm a big ass playstation fan and ive been like in sony's a**hole since i was born…not to say anything, but if i was gay the 1st people id be trying to get with is someone from sony, just to be like…YEA ASAINS RULE! but home isnt BIG! to me id love to have all the good things added to it, but im with the HDD usage. im installing it and its takeing up 10 gigs alone (im reserving 10 gigs) for home, but we dont have any of the crazy insane orginal's. trophies in our apartments. the abillity to have music. and the kicker…having a TV displaying sh** off your ps3.
IDK about you guys, but once that comes out. i might sell my PC lol
fu** myspace. i got home…:P
I was so excited when home came out. Once I got on I logged off after half and hour. Now about every week I go on for about 10 minutes. So much for the xbox live killer.
Home was never set to kill XBL, go bot elsewhere.
lol, do people enjoy annoying others.
Dude seriously give it a rest!
@Fartan 117:
Think about it you expected a halo game and got a social tool.
You expected to much from a beta. How about this EA and Capcom will soon have there own HOME space. The Home space is still undergoing change.
Go sell some oranges and buy a ps3, stop lying you don't own one.

I do own one retard i have MGS4, LBP, Resistance 1 and 2, Ratchet and Clank Future, and Uncharted. The main reason I even bought a PS3 was FFXIII a few months later surprise it will be on 360. I have a PS3 ask me just about any question you want about it.
" I do own one retard" this one of the reason why I hate none face to face conversation, you have to take crap from people without being able to do anything. This probably some wuss that gets pushed around in college and takes his anger out in a blog knowing people won't be able to do s### to him.
PS92117 you're just pissed off that I know that 360 is better.
or you fail to see the fact that it isn't and result to insult to avoid pondering about the possibility that it isn't.
360 has better games, the best online play and costs half as much as a PS3. Other than RROD 360 has no major issues graphics are only slightly better on PS3.
whats with tone voice, 360 games are not better than ps3 games lol. and for online (netflix) how about some servers with that online and lol it is half price it because could not compete with ps3 in NA when it was 3/4 the price. lets not even mention pal and jp, and lol graphics WHERE slightly better on ps3 now it is on whole new demension.
@ Spartan 117 and ps92117
both of you sound like fanboys. The 360 and PS3 both have good games. Give this crap a rest.
@ Spartan
obviously you didn't listen to Ben when he said he's just about had it with you (and Josh) I say keep being a stupid little Ho so you can be perm banned quicker.
I couldn't get on for the first 2 weeks…I gave up trying. Especially since everyone has been saying it sux
I think you got it right. There's no Home news because there's nothing to say. It launched, and it was lackluster. There's not enough stuff to do. I'm even one of those who would spend time pimping out my avatar and house…but there's nothing really to pimp them out with. It's just not fleshed out enough.
I like that they added chess tables. I swear, if there were a few spades tables, I'd spend countless hours there.
Maybe when it's got more stuff it'll be a bigger deal.
Chess would be fun.
Make like a home bar haha. With darts and the like.
A Home bar, eh? If only virtual alcohol could get you reality drunk.
