A few weeks ago we reported that it was unlikely that the PlayStation 3 would include a hard drive. Now it seems
that the rumor is getting closer to fact as Famitsu, the respected Japanese
magazine is reporting that the PS3 will not ship with an HDD, and speculates
that it's mostly due to the already high cost of the system, which some experts
think will be $399.

When the HDD is available, it will likely be 80 gigs, according to statements
made by Ken Kutaragi, the head of Sony Computer Entertainment. Nothing is set in
stone yet, but things aren't looking good for the drives inclusion at this point
in time.
