Sometimes, it's difficult to trust those so-called "inside sources." But bear in mind that this new revelation only concerns the possibility of a PlayStation 3 port of the original Mass Effect ; it doesn't necessarily impact future installments.
Not long ago, we told you about how an EA insider had told SecondStoryGamer that Mass Effect and any upcoming sequels will be coming to the PS3 , thereby causing us to use the headline you see for that article. However, the Videogaming247 blog spoke with another EA representative who said, "The rumor regarding Mass Effect being developed for PS3 is inaccurate. Hope that helps." Well, it doesn't really help, especially when he refused to comment at all about future iterations in the series. To us, this sounds like EA is taking a page from Sony's policy book; the "we don't comment on rumor and speculation," or "we don't announce something until there's something to announce." Furthermore, it may mean that EA wants to wait to announce the deal at the Game Developer Conference next month, which would make plenty of sense. But that whole "inaccurate" statement isn't helping matters, especially with the sheer amount of discussion and debate flying around the Internet.
For our part, we believe there won't be a port of the original – we just think it's too late for that – but the future Mass Effect titles will indeed come to the PS3. What do you think?
