Well, if you want to be a glass-half-full kinda guy, you can always say, "meh, there are too many awesome games this year, anyway."
A few days ago, it was revealed that in the Loose Talk section of the latest Game Informer, Rockstar was preparing to release a new next-gen Grand Theft Auto later this year . We also heard they were considering another historical type adventure (like Vice City and San Andreas ), which immediately prompted discussion regarding possible settings for GTAV. There was a rumor going around supporting Tokyo as a possibility, but it appears that all of this is premature, as Rockstar has stepped up to clarify things. According to Kotaku, publisher Take-Two Interactive has stated there is "no truth" to the reports that a "wholly new retail game" will arrive in time for the 2009 holiday season. Speculation concerning possible time periods and locales should also be taken with a grain of salt. Considering that Grand Theft Auto IV released in April of last year, we figured a late 2009 release for the next installment was inaccurate. Then again, a 2010 launch seems most plausible, so we'll have to keep an eye out for any future developments.
If the new GTA does come out in 2010, that may join Final Fantasy XIII and God of War III , which would be plenty appealing. But it's tough to say at this point, so we won't toss out any more scenarios for the time being.
