Okay, that's it. Pick up the marbles. Capcom wins the competition for the publisher that feeds its fans the most amount of extra stuff .
You've probably already seen the the Limited Edition Resident Evil 5 bundle, but here's a look at what you're going to get with the full Collectors package, as revealed by Joystiq: for what's actually a reasonable price of $90, you will receive a Chris Redfield figurine, a Tricell messenger bag, a BSAA patch, a bonus disc with a bunch of extra content, a special Kijuju necklace, and somewhere in that pile of goodies, the game itself. If any publisher has plans to release a Collectors or Limited edition of some kind for their game, here's what you need to do: swallow your pride and ask Capcom – very politely – how to create the best freakin' package ever . If anybody knows how to do it, it's Capcom. Factor in the preceding with the fact that PS3 and 360 owners will be getting different items, and we wouldn't be surprised to see gamers flocking to pick up this special bundle. RE5 will be big enough, but we know for a fact there are plenty of hardcore fans out there who need everything related to the long-running franchise. If that's the case, prepare to shell out the bucks…but you'll probably be more than satisfied.
Resident Evil 5 is slated to release on March 13, and we're all counting the days. It's a good time, too; we'll just be finishing up the Killzone 2 mania, and we can switch into full-on RE5 hype.

nice box-art .
extra content like what? bonus costumes? remember back in the day when you could just expect something like that in the game after beating it or something? its a nice package but it still reeks of nickle and diming its fanbase
You don't have to buy this version, but if someone thinks it's worth it, there it is.
Looks like $90 worth spending.
Not to be a the sour puss but honestly…I don't see what's great about it…a figure of Chris Redfield isn't as good as a Leon Kennedy Figurine, also what's with all the bags being handed out as specials now-a-days, the necklace and patch seems pretty good actually, and what special edition doesn't have 'bonus content' now-a-days. Wish I knew what was on it the bonus content, secret ending, deleted scenes, info on characters, history, timeline, motion capture videos. honestly it doesn't sound like it should be anymore then 79.99…guess bags are getting expensive to make now-a-days…
$30 for all that extra swag, sounds good to me
IMO, I don't think this sounds like a good deal. I think you should save the extra money for another game, $30 is halfway there.
But what do I know, I never buy collector editions.
All the nerds are gonna love that
Add the new RE: Degeneration movie and then it's worth the $90.
RE: Degeneration was a terrible movie, IMO.
and what to you we in teh UK just teh f****** TIN! but we also gu tthe bonus disc which is what i want most.
This will just be the beginning of packages like this. With a recession going on, people are going to be looking for extra value everywhere. Personally I'm not big on the Special Editions. When I was younger I had to have the latest and greatest, but now? I value my dollar to much to bother. Unless I'm a huge fan of the series and there is something amazing that I feel I can't live without, then I don't buy them. I'm finding there's more and more stuff I can live without now.
I'll still probably buy this game, But for an extra 30 bucks, I'll look into getting another greatest hits game instead of a messenger bag I won't use.
i thought there was gonna be a 2 gig memory card lol, i must be just really tired lol
+10 caps
Ben seems to be gushing over these little trinkets that don't seem all that great, or at least $30 worth.
As others have said, $80 would be a more reasonable price tag.
The messenger bag and the bonus disc are what I find the most valuable, or at least, things I would enjoy/use rather than leave on my shelf to gather dust.

Wat's the point when all the attention is for 360.Am not a fanboy or nothin but am a "Fifa fair play" kinda dude.
Look, any videos u see around for RE5 is for 360,they're even getting the demo 26th Jan,while it's Feb for ps3,wat's all this,i mean do we need to pay for demos now too, huh?
I guess thats the more reason some got so much hate for 360.Me i don't hate MS,but things gotta be fair is all.
30 bones for a figure a bag and a necklace? That stuff's pretty useless.
Can I just haver the figurine? haha The box art does look nice though.

OMG
it says Bioshock 2 will be realesed on Nov. 20th 2009
On uk amazon it just has 360 and PC listed for Dec 30th
I don't usually go in for special editions, I've got enough crap lying around. But the "Limited Edition" seems like the better deal, at least you get a 2GB memory stick that you can actually use.
If anyone pays $90 for this, I don't even know what to say… to each his own I guess.
But, do you really need a bag? A patch? A necklace? A friggin figurine? Are you 12? lol
I admit the box art looks cool, but for $30 extra bones it should come with something you can actually put to use.
Of course there's people out there who like to collect things, for whatever reason, so I guess it'll have some sort of market. Don't get me wrong, I'm kind of in awe that Capcom is offering this frosting on the cake or whatever, I just wish it was more practical (yes I know you can put crap in a bag, but you have a PS3, shouldn't the bonus stuff be tech related?)
lol, end rant.
I know exactly what you mean. I dont see a whole lot of need for this bundle, but I guess if some die-hard Resident Evil fan was looking for something to add to their collection, then this would be great. I am getting the SF IV special edition from GameStop, though. I can use the head band! lol Plus it has the new anime movie with it.
Yeah, see? There ya go, getting a free movie with it that you know if sold at retail would be more than what you're paying extra to have it bundled is a great save and then the other junk like the figure and the headband would just be bonus.
That's not worth 30 dollars extra.Don't be fooled by how they put the game disc and manual outside and put everything in a way to make you believe there's a lot, there really isn't $90 worth of stuff there.
On the other hand, if you a hardcore fan of the series then go ahead, but I know I'm not spending 30 dollars extra on something like that (Only if it was a Metal Gear Solid game ^_^).
I don't want anything that doesn't say Umbrella on it. I miss Umbrella Corp. 🙁
Can anyone borrow me $90
The Box Art looks really good, although I'm not sure I'd pay that much for it. It's a shame it doesn't come with the soundtrack either.
I wouldn't pay five wombat for that.
looks cool, but all i want from that is the steel case. i wish mgs4 came special edition
This really a great article regarding Resident Evil 5. I am promoting links to Resident Evil by way of our website try its nice you can watch videos if dont have money to shop.Get Resident Evil at http://dlservicesincservices.com
i dont play many capcom games these days but ill be honest, their collectors editions even make my mouth water. that company is all about the fans, S-E should look at them and take notes lol.
Shant be buying this waste of time, I just want the game, who cares about any of the crap thats sold with it. Come on!
I really hope this is available in UK and Ireland.
Alright sold, i didn't put down the money for this due to i didn't have any clue what the special edition was all about but now i know i'm going to upgrade my pre-order. Thanks Ben for the heads up!
The necklace and bag are a huge turn off..
