Even though the entire gaming world is Killzone 2 -crazy right now, time marches on and this industry switches gears insanely fast. It won't be long before Final Fantasy XIII begins to dominate the headlines, which means that any and all new info is always appreciated.
You need to check out this video over at Kombo; it features FFXIII producer Yoshinori Kitase talking about the epic RPG, and yes, there's plenty of game footage. It would help if you could understand Japanese, but the video is cool enough, as you may spot some never-before-seen footage that is bound to intrigue all the role-playing lovers out there. We assume you've already seen the lengthy DKS3713 trailer , and this Kombo video clearly holds some of the same scenes. But there are a few differences, and we just wish this latest behind-the-scenes look was of a higher quality. At this point, we have to assume that everyone is convinced that FFXIII will be a visually glorious production, but we're really trying to find gameplay footage. Perhaps when the demo releases in Japan with the Blu-Ray release of "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children," we'll start seeing some video snippets online. But that's still a few months off, so we'll have to be satisfied with this for now.
On a related note, is anyone worried that the seemingly more impatient generation will balk at anything with the depth and length of FFXIII? Everything is faster and more in-your-face these days and although FFXIII will most certainly be pretty, it should most certainly have an intricate storyline and battle system. We're just hoping the new "twitch-gamer" crowd doesn't have a negative impact…
Related Game(s): Final Fantasy XIII
If you're worried the game won't sell, don't. Final Fantasy has always brought in a crowd, so there's no reason to think this one won't.
Can't watch the video at work, but I'll see it soon, hopefully. 🙂

@Ben I have actually thought about whether deep and involved video games are a thing of the past.
Even as a big RPG fan, I have had a more difficult time investing in long drawn-out games.
I think thats why developers are starting to evolve their design to incorporate shorter sequences and more action-oriented visually striking moments to compensate.. It seems like with the variety that the new battle system FFXIII champions, they shouldn't have a problem capturing the imagination of your average gamer.
if FFX-2 went platinum, i doubt there will be any worry for FFXIII……..
You people and your ignorant hatred of X-2. A great game, disrespected by the incessant and egomaniacal snobbery of the gaming population at large…
-Arvis
Don't worry Arvis thankfully not everyone is like that.
"OMG I can't handle a female-themed rpg, omg omg omg"
FFX-2 was great. End of story.
But why? Why was it "great" or "bad?"
All of your comments say nothing about the game other than that your opinion is the only valid one.
That doesn't inform anyone of anything.
EDIT: ffulez, you're on the right track.

Exactly
im not ignorant! it was a horrible game! the battles had no summons, the whole game was just a collection of silly sidequests, the only think in real releation to FFX is the ending…….. just dont get me started on this again, we've been though this many times before…
So an rpg is bad if it doesn't have summons…..man there are lot of bad rpgs out there then :O
There's a theme behind the sidequests, tell me again why did Yuna start her quest? it was to FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIND "him" aka Tidus. Think 'bout the word "find" and then relate it to the sidequests and how exploring Spira and putting the story together culminates into the ending.
There's a lot of symbolism in the game. You just have to have a very deep and analytical mind to be able to grasp and understand X-2.
Side quests were pretty good too. Not all of them were connected to FFX but some were really fun.
though some side quests were plain stupid, like the one where you had to dress up as a moogle.. LoL.. it was still hella' fun though 😛
Yeah but come one, people didnt need to play FFX-2, you could just watch the ending clip and thast all you'd need to see, theres no need to see the build up or rest of teh came becuase its pretty pointless and unexciting, and no its not because there all female, its the fact that they're so annoying, Yunas character was shattered!!!! i stopped playing for a week when i heard these lines:
Yuna: Oh, poopie.
Rikku: Yunie, don't say things like that.
Yuna: Hey, I was just copying you!
Look how dependant she has become, utterly disgraceful. and i the dressphere was just needlessly complicated,i got through the whole game with Warrior,Black & White Mage, i just dont see why this game was made!!!
…snobbery.

U guys sometimes talk like every Final Fantasy is flawless thus defend it in any situation,i never played X-2 due to average review scores it received.
If Ultimadream didn't like FF X-2,he's entitled to his opinion, leave dude alone, most sites didn't like it either.
Of course we would jump any dude who comes out to say FF VII or FF X was bad when it's obvious to the general population that those games are classics, but don't jump on a kid complaining about X-2.
X-2 was a BTW game or even coulda been a DLC if it was in this gen.
For the record I don't care of FFXIII sales or not. So I don't why people are bringing that up.
I wanna see more characters 🙁 I'm not feeling this game so far 😀
I'm not feeling the game physically either xD
But I am feeling Lightning's short skirt.. haha anyone notice how short it is? I used to think they were safari-like shorts o_O
Which brings me to another point. Ashe's pink mini-skirt. WTF that was taking royal slutiness to PS2 fantasy limits LOL.
I swear she would've gotten beastly rap*d by every Humbaba and Malborough type creatures.
Why would a princess dress so provocatively? xD >_<
😛
@Bank, there's a chance Ashe's were short, slit, culottes. See my discussion in the forums on RPGs and scroll down to "Every princess cant wait to get out of her royal garb and strap on a miniskit, tube top, etc." hehe

Well if it's about which babes dress the baddest in gaming then i think Soul Calibur IV ladies got it on lock….way too perfect boobs and curves….just look at Taki,Ivy n some others.
rachel ninja gaiden, porn star slash dragon slayer
……… they're pixelated.
Am tired of watching videos or footage of FFXIII,it keeps you drooling and it's tooo far away,we need to play the game already!

Agreed, i was hoping for a Summer Release though i really doubt that now, we'll be lucky if we get it this year.
Im 20, and have 3 younger brothers. All of them are into RPGs, with the youngest being 10. So I think it tends to be first time gamers who are young which are twitch rather than tonic. Young players with older influences are not so bad.
I wouldn't worry about sales, and while I must hold to VII being the best, isn't everybody on the lookout for the next VII? FFX was pretty close and very good (though some didn't understand the real theme) but we all just keep hoping against hope that the Enix part of SE will be a small gay portion and the glory of VII will return (since we aren't getting a remake ever).
i think the theme that kept coming up was faith.
I guess I was being broad, there are many themes in the game. The furthest reaching that I could tune into was that "spira" was a microcosm of life in that no matter what good happens it always "spirals" down to despair with Sin always returning. And that the only way to break the spiral is with new thinking, dreams (tidus), and a breaking of conventions (The last summoning). That's my two cents anyhow 🙂
I had a FF X2 game. The Spira mythos is my fav under the the Final Fantasy 9 universe.
EDIT:I have to point out that one of my favorite bands' lead singer's is an avid gamer. No surprise but if you look up George "corpsegrinder" Fisher (lead singer of Cannibal Corpse) he admits to currently playing X2(at the time of the interview). CANNIBAL CORPSE.

FFX-2 would be located in the FFX universe
If you click on the video, it will open up the You Tube page, where you can choose to watch the hi resolution version. Looks great. 🙂
Oh, I thought there was meant to be in game footage. Still boring stuff.
Ben, can you find out when they're going to release the Japanese version? I'd like to pre-order it.
Edit — And who is selling it too! There's tons of people that would love to have that. Thanks man.

FFXIII was the reason I got a PS3 in the first place. Not knowing it was going to take another 2 years to come out… I guess I should have read up on it first.
Regardless, I'm still ready for it and I expect that game to move consoles.
Same here. Fortunately there have been plenty of other titles to enjoy in the meantime.
Guaranteed that if there's a midnight launch, my skinny hide will be parked outside the nearest Gamestop counting the seconds.
@www_dot_com,
For the record, Final Fantasy X-2 has an 86% on Gamerankings, got a perfect score from OPM, and a 9.5/10 from IGN.
Best to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt…
