We brought you our inside look at the Killzone 2 single-player campaign yesterday, and today, the big news continues to flow for Guerilla's hotly anticipated shooter.

X-Play just released an extended hands-on preview of their own that featured SCEA Managing Producer Kyle Shubel, and two big updates were featured: two new weapons and the official release date! The weapons are the Bolt Gun and the Flamethrower, both of which can be viewed in this new video . Those bad-ass weapons look sweet , and if you check out the second video there, that will give you the inside scoop on the online multiplayer. To top it all off, the launch date for Killzone 2 has been revealed as February 27, so make sure to circle that day on your calendars, fellow gamers. By now, you should be 100% convinced that this is a must-own title, and you have no excuse for passing on it. None of this, "hey, let's wait until it comes down in price" philosophy; that mindset is reserved for decent games, but not blockbuster masterpieces. And remember, our glowing preview is based on a 60% preview build, which means Guerilla could make the final product even more amazing.

The only problem we have now is…February 27 seems like such a long way away! After having had the benefit of testing the beta and preview build, we now have to wait over two and a half months for the final round of bliss? And now we can't run any more release date rumor stories for Killzone 2 …bummer.

Guess it's the downside when you get to play the game early, haha. Your 2.5 months will feel more like 3 years while to all of us it'll only be 4 months lol.

It feels like sh*t already! I will try to clock in a few more hours in the coming days before the axe falls on the Beta… 🙁

I'll have to look for a repeat of this X-play, they usually only do 360 games.

Amen to that! They are horribly biased. I hate that show…

I'm not sure Adam Sessler or Morgan Webb are biased toward the 360 because they do give favorable reviews to PS3 exclusive games, i.e., Resistance 2, Little Big Planet, Metal Gear Solid 4, Motorstorm 2 (they also reviewed Resistance and Motorstorm favorably).

Where the show, however, is biased is their reviews of multiplat games. The majority of these reviews, in the on-screen graphics at the very begining, list the 360 as the game's console.

Even when they list the game as multiplat, during their "Review Roundup" where they recap the reviews for that episode or week (on Fridays), someone in the production booth puts up the 360 logo only. There is no indication the game is on the PS3 too.

The one exception was Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution, which the show listed as a PS3 game on both ends of the review and in the "Review Roundup" segment. I was, needless to say, shocked. And they gave the game a good review too.

We wonder why the Xbots believe the PS3 doesn't have any games.

I think the people at X-Play were just expecting the PS3 to unquestionably blow away the 360 based on all the hype, so they kinda feel more disappointed when a PS3 game isn't SUPER good compared to a 360 game.

I love the humor on X-Play and Attack of the Show, though, and generally find their reviews fair.

BTW, you can also view a lot of their segments (esp. reviews) on their website (g4tvDOTcom) and in Podcasts on iTunes.

I am getting conflicting reports. Gamespot at the end of their killzone preview say it releases on February the 17th. Plus that is the date Gamestop has for retail.

Just watched a different video of the bolt gun, and shooting at enemies point blank with one is insane. They just roll rapidly like a spazz and even take off. Either that or just get pinned to the wall.

For whatever reason I enjoyed the first Killzone game, and if it can be as much better as people say it is it could be a pretty good game. Still reluctant with the flood of FPSs but I may pick it up once the price drops.

There is no must-have game. Everyone has a different opinion; to some this game may be too gray, and that may ruin it for them.

That doesn't mean I'm not getting the game (on the contrary, I can't wait for it), I'm just saying.
