Every time we have to report on the current status of the Street Fighter IV release date, we have numerous obstacles to contend with.

First of all, there's the whole issue about whether or not the date in question applies to both Japan and North America. Then you have to make sure they're talking about the home console version of the game, and not the arcade version. But now, we're hoping this is a finalized launch date: on its official forums, Capcom has revealed that the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Street Fighter IV will release in the U.S. on February 17 and in Europe three days later on the 20th. There's a PC port on the way as well, but Capcom made no mention of it in this update. Fighting fans got the chance to revel in the flashy, fast-paced goodness of Soul Calibur IV earlier this year, but old-school aficionados are going to want SFIV; they're going to hope that it can rejuvenate a seriously ailing franchise. Of course, the fighting genre in general is suffering these days, just because its relative simplicity is something the industry is leaving behind. Like it or not.

Anyway, we'd like to think that this is the last SFIV release date story we have to write, and that February 17 and February 20 are concrete, written-in-stone launches. If so, we can finally turn our attention fully to any new media and info. Yay!

SFIV was always to be released in FEB around the same time the new movie is coming out.

thay should quit it with these lame comic games and stick to developing real boxing, mma, ufc, kickboxing, karate etc sims. this childs play is getting ridiculous.

I think SF fans might have something to say about that.

Soul Calibur IV has been a pleasure, this new SF title will really have to shine though cuz SF hasn't been good since the ORIGINAL part 2. Mortal Kombat isn't helping the fighting game woes any by taking on DC universe.

I've played the ps3 version of SFIV

I've been playing SF since 1991, and I can tell you that SFIV trumps ANY fighting game to this day, in terms of character appeal, story, and most importantly, fighting mechanics.

THIS will be the fighting game of the new 21st Century.

How? Were you fortunate enough to get time with the one arcade machine in the US?

@Rusha; How in any way shape or form is this game for 6 year olds and under? You really need to stop posting some of your comments because sometimes they make no sense. Just because they have arcady/cartoony graphics doesn't make it for children. Heck, they totally revamped the graphics this generation. Idk, but it seems you are always bashing a game for no reason, with nothing to back it up. I have been a fan of the game since the very first and I have to say this one beats everything else out there, including its predecessors. And I would prefer these games over fight night any day. Maybe you should research/play the game before bashing it? There's a hell of a lot more behind it's exterior you know.

There we go!

Having played the game I can tell you this game is second to NONE! In fact I am so sure it'll be out every next-gen fighting game to date that it'll be something to behold.

And no I'm not saying this withou having played Virtua Fighter 5 and Soul Calibur IV. Have played both and those two are great(specially VF5), but man they're nothing compared to what SFIV's bringing.
