Last week, Sony and Konami got everyone all excited when they decided to issue a very special surprise related to Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots . It was to arrive yesterday on the official PlayStation blog, and speculation has been running rampant since that time. However, as it turns out, it's nothing all that groundbreaking. On the other hand, it's certainly something to look forward to.
Well, the big news went up later on yesterday, and Konami Online's Brandon Laurino clued us into that aforementioned surprise: it's called "Metal Gear Mondays" on the blog, where they will be running weekly articles on MGS4 and Metal Gear Online , all of them loaded with plenty of news, updates and fresh content. For example, this week, new MGO information has been revealed: as you know, you must pre-order MGS4 to get the MGO Beta Unique Product Voucher Code (UPVC), and that will allow you to participate in the upcoming testing.
On Thursday, April 17, you can download the MGO beta client on the PlayStation Store, but just remember that actual beta play doesn't start until the 21st (and runs through the 5th of May). You have to "carefully follow the instructions provided on the MGO Beta UPVC insert" before downloading, and then you'll be good to go. Also, Laurino reminded us the UPVC is good for only one PS3/PSN/Store account, so you should never share your UPVC with anyone . Don't mess this up, because Konami won't be issuing "any additional issue/reissue, replacement, etc. of these codes." Got it?
So I guess this means we'll be checking the PlayStation blog every Monday between now and June to get our weekly dose of MGS info. Like we said, this wasn't the most "special" of surprises, but we'll definitely take it.
