The experts have always said that 1080p is the high water-mark for high-definition these days, and up till now, only Gran Turismo 4 HD has been able to boast this level of resolution for the PS3.
But at a recent press event in Tokyo, Sega officials proudly announced that Virtua Tennis 3 will be the second PS3 game to appear in a crystal clear 1080p in full HD. Looking downright resplendent on side-by-side placards, the slick clarity apparently wowed a delighted viewing crowd.
For some time now, Sony has touted the PS3's ability to produce 1080p visuals as a major selling point, primarily because neither the Xbox 360 or the Wii are capable of achieving that lofty level. And although VT 3 is only the second to manage the feat, Sony hopes to have both Resistance: Fall of Man and NBA '07 running at that super-high resolution level. However, it's not confirmed they'll make it happen by launch time, so for now, we'll have to be satisfied with two PS3 titles achieving the "holy grail" of video game viewing.
