Harmonix has already revealed they will start shipping individually packaged instruments for Rock Band on February 12 , and now, it's RedOctane and Activision's turn.
Come March, you will be able to purchase standalone Les Paul guitars for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock , and they will be available for all three platforms (PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii). The guitars for the PS3 and 360 versions will cost $69 while the one for the Wii version will retail for $59. GHIII and Rock Band were easily two of the biggest titles of 2007, but both publishers didn't provide the consumer with anything but a package option for the holidays. This didn't go over too well with some consumers, but it obviously didn't hurt sales too much…both titles have sold extremely well since their launch late last year.
We've also heard rumblings that Guitar Hero IV will actually arrive in 2008, which means all you fans won't have to wait very long at all for the next installment. It's hardly official, but if they start churning out one Guitar Hero per year, some gamers may never play anything else!
