We know that many of you have been waiting to purchase individual instrument peripherals for Rock Band , which aren't yet available. For now, the only way to get the full experience is to purchase the $169.99 bundle that includes all the accessories, but that's a touch pricey for some people. Besides, it's just far more convenient to have the option of picking up the instruments individually.
Well, that time is nigh. Harmonix and EA have announced that they will begin shipping the separate instruments for Rock Band to retail stores on February 12. Obviously, as far as more than a few fans are concerned, this is a much-appreciated move-
“The release of standalone instruments allows Rock Band musicians to enjoy the full Rock Band experience, including drum, microphone and guitar head-to-head modes, creating a whole new level of competitive fun,” said Alex Rigopulos, CEO and co-founder, Harmonix. “We’re also delivering a stand-alone wireless guitar solution for all versions of Rock Band as well as providing the opportunity for consumers to build their band one instrument at a time.”
This will definitely expand the multiplayer opportunities for those who own the game but not all the instruments; certain online and offline modes like Microphone vs. Microphone, "Score Duel," and "Tug-O-War" will quickly become both more viable and more popular. You didn't have the option over the holidays, but Harmonix and EA wasn't about to disappoint the consumer by withholding a logical marketing move.
