Everyone is hoping to see God of War III for the PlayStation 3 in 2008, but most don't put much stock in that rumor. In fact, some fairly reliable sources in the past have said we shouldn't expect it until 2009, and now, here's yet another piece of evidence to support that unfortunate theory.
According to a "reliable Sony source" speaking to Games Radar, the third installment in the highly praised and massively popular franchise won't arrive for "at least another two years." In fact, the source says the earliest we can hope to see our next Kratos adventure is Christmas of 2009. Cory Barlog and a few others may have let the official announcement of GoWIII slip later last year, but most gamers figured we'd be seeing a third entry in the award-winning franchise, anyway. At the time, Barlog said the game should boast both full 1080p high-definition visuals and Sixaxis functionality, which was great news. But now we won't get any of it until holidays of '09? Damn…that's a long way away.
However, nothing is official until we hear from Sony or the development team, and we assume this won't happen for quite some time. For now, though, it certainly doesn't seem likely that God of War III will drop in 2008.
