Well, so much for a simultaneous release across all platforms.
Despite initially announcing this would happen, Atari has now revealed the new release plans for Alone in the Dark 5 , and PS3 owners aren't going to be pleased. Up until today, the highly anticipated survival/horror title was expected to launch in March, but it is now delayed until May 2008 for the Xbox 360, Wii, PS2 and PC, and the PS3 version has a vague and disappointing "TBA 2008" release date. The ongoing saga of the AitD5 release is a long and tedious one, but at the very least, we had hoped to see the game arrive for the PS3 at the same time as other versions. Is developer Eden Games having EA-like problems with Sony's next-gen system?
The fifth installment of the series that arguably began the new "survival/horror" genre in the early '90s is still on our "must-see" list, but we're definitely disappointed. We'll have to wait and see if Atari assigns an actual release date to the PS3 version, but in the meantime, remember that the other four versions are delayed a couple months until May.
