Many will argue that the PlayStation 3 has the strongest 2008 software lineup, primarily because some of the biggest exclusives of the new generation are scheduled to arrive this year- Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots , Gran Turismo 5 and Final Fantasy XIII (maybe). But that may be only the tip of the iceberg, if the latest rumor from the Team ICO Gamers blog can be believed.
Here's the latest post:
"Yesterday in a heated IM discussion about which of the three console makers is going to have the strongest line-up this year, a friend of mine who works at Sony Computer Entertainment Japan blurted out that Sony's internal studios have up their sleeves more than 20 yet-to-be-revealed projects for PlayStation 3."
As it turns out, these currently unannounced exclusives could definitely turn some heads. Project Siren, Team Saru (they did Ape Escape ), and perhaps most importantly, Team ICO, are involved. The latter is responsible for the likes of ICO and Shadow of the Colossus – two of the finest games of the last generation and easily two of the most memorable – so whatever they do should be very promising. We've actually heard the rumor before that Team ICO would be making a couple PS3 exclusives, but that hasn't been confirmed just yet. This is more evidence, but while the source in question is a Sony Computer Entertainment employee, nothing has been officially unveiled. We just like the sound of this.
