It's that time of the year again: the annual Spike TV Video Game Awards are back, and today, they've revealed the winners for the event. The awards ceremony was held at the Mandalay Bay Events Resort and Casino in Las Vegas and was hosted by Samuel L. Jackson; the show will air on Spike tomorrow, December 9 at 9:00 p.m. ET.

If you plan on watching and want to be surprised, don't bother reading the following list of winners. But if you've got better things to do on a Sunday night (maybe you do, what do we know?), here are the games that went home victorious. You don't have to cringe…they're not that bad.

We have to say, we're not too annoyed at these results, as we thought we might be. Halo 3 rightfully didn't receive Game of the Year (although I think they threw that last cheesy category in there just to give the game another award). Bioshock is a solid choice for that, and an easy choice for 360 Game of the Year, although we can't agree it deserves Best Original Score. Best Action Game really should've been God of War II (who cares if it was on the PS2?), and we're not sure how The Orange Box , which uses last year's technology as far as we know, gets the Breakthrough Technology award. But everything else isn't bad.

It seems Harmonix and Rock Band swept away Activision and Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock , which is kinda interesting, and we do believe Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction was a worthy choice for PS3 Game of the Year. Still, you could've made strong arguments for Uncharted: Drake's Fortune , Heavenly Sword and even Warhawk . Oh yeah, and if there had been an award category for Best Acting/Voice Acting in a game, Heavenly Sword wins that hands down. What do you gamers think?
