Well, now you've gone and done it, GameSpot. Despite all the legal hoopla and "we don't fire reviewers for low scores," blah blah blah, it now seems owner CNET isn't about to let the debacle slide. Up until this point, CNET would only issue a very official-sounding statement that didn't really explain much. The main point was simple, though- "Neither CNET Networks nor GameSpot has ever allowed its advertising business to affect its editorial content."

But CNET has been very quiet on this subject since then, and according to one of Kotaku's "trusted sources," they've launched an investigation that has yet to begin. This comes after the memo that talked about CNET's "commitment to editorial integrity" and all that jazz. The last update? CNET is sending in their Vice President and Editor-in-Chief, Jai Singh, to "conduct an internal investigation into GameSpot policies." Oh yeah? And what will Mr. Singh find, GameSpot? Are you guys in the clear, or are we looking at a serious problem 'cuz you put advertising bucks ahead of journalism?

We knew this ordeal wasn't going to go away easily, and now, we await the results of this investigation.
