Fatal Inertia To Glide Onto PS3 This Spring (UPDATED)

Update: Here's some very good news: according to Eurogamer, Koei has said Fatal Inertia will be a "better game" on the PS3 than it is on the Xbox 360. They're definitely spending more time on the game after the 360 version "failed to ignite critical fuses when it was released in September." The spokesperson said they plan to "polish up technical areas," and there is a fair possibility that we'll see extra content, too. Sweet! Maybe this game will be worth the wait, after all.

Original Story:

The saga of Fatal Inertia is a frustrating one for PS3 owners: it was first announced as a PS3 exclusive, then it became multiplatform, then there were rumors the PS3 version had been canceled, then the Xbox 360 version released, and that brings us to the present. 'whew' But finally, it seems Koei is prepared to bring the futuristic racer to the PS3, despite the problems they had with the Unreal Engine 3.

According to 1Up, the publisher wouldn't give us an exact release date, but they said we can expect to see Fatal Inertia PS3 some time in "Spring 2008." We're not sure if this version will include extra/additional content, but considering the gap between the 360 and PS3 versions, we'd like to think there will be bonus stuff. For the longest time, we were wondering if Koei would ever work through their development issues, but now that we have the announcement, perhaps this long-running story can finally come to a close. All we need now is an exact release date, and we should be good to go.

Given the history of this game, though, we can't say anything is a given. You never know what might happen at this point, but at the very least, it's good to know Fatal Inertia PS3 hasn't fallen by the wayside.
