Rock Band Downloadable Content Detailed

Much has been made about the downloadable content for Rock Band , although we could only guess as to the cost. Now, though, Harmonix and MTV Games have confirmed their pricing structure for both the game and all downloadable content. Remember, they're gearing up to provide us with entire albums for potential download, so being concerned about the cost seems logical. Furthermore, Activision is offering 3-song bundles at the price of $6.25 each for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock , which some gamers believe is too high.

However, according to GameSpot, Harmonix has a slightly better deal for Rock Band owners. They too will boast 3-song packs for download, but they'll only cost you $5.49 on the PlayStation Store, or 440 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live, and individual songs will be available for the reasonable price of $1.99 (160 Microsoft Points) each. Any new songs they add could go for as little as $.99 (80 Microsoft Points), but no higher than $2.99 (240 Microsoft Points). In the end, it seems "the vast majority" will retail for the regular $1.99 price tag, although they didn't say what those full-album downloads might cost.

Even better, Harmonix fully outlined their release schedule for the first five weeks of downloadable content. They're going to kick things off in fine style with 3-track packs for Metallica, The Police and Queens of the Stone Age, and individual songs by Foreigner, T-Rex, and many more. If you want to see the 5-week schedule in its entirety, check it out here .
