Flying directly in the face of recent reports that Midway was falling behind in the development process for Blacksite: Area 51 , and the possibility of Unreal Tournament III PS3 facing a delay until 2008, a Fox News report has everyone talking. According to this recent article , Midway has revealed their fall schedule…and the PS3 versions of both the aforementioned titles are included.
The report mentions four Midway titles on tap for the holiday season: Unreal Tournament III , John Woo Presents Stranglehold , Blacksite: Area 51 and Aqua Teen Hunger Force Zombie Ninja Pro-Am . The latter is only for the PS2 and scheduled for release on November 5, and the PS3 version of Stranglehold just recently went gold; it will arrive in stores next week, on October 30. But that's not the significant news here, obviously.
According to the report, Blacksite: Area 51 is still on track for its November 5 release, and that includes all three versions (PS3, Xbox 360, and PC). They also list the PS3 and PC versions of Unreal Tournament III with a "November" release date, contrary to recent news from both Midway and Epic. The only thing that concerns us is one line from the Fox article, where it says these four games were unveiled at a "preview party" in New York "last month." So…is this a brand new story using old information? We'd like to think an article dated October 25 would be displaying up-to-date info, and if that's the case, we're happy.
But remember, Epic has been quite honest in saying the PS3 version of UT3 probably won't make it for November; it'll be here in December at the earliest. And that Blacksite news came only two days ago. Let's just hope Fox is more accurate than we sometimes give them credit for.
