This may or may not be big news, depending on which titles are affected by the decision. Apparently, according to a recent Ubisoft financial report, the company says they plan to delay four games until 2008, and unfortunately, that may include some of the blockbusters they have scheduled for this year (source- 360-Gamer).

“As a result of the positive trends observed during the first half of the year as well as the positive outlook for the third quarter, Ubisoft has decided to postpone the release of certain games."

…we're not quite sure why "positive trends" and a "positive" third-quarter outlook should necessarily translate to delays, but whatever. And we all need to remember, Ubisoft is currently planning to release Assassin's Creed , Haze and Rayman Raving Rabbids before the year is out. Could any of these big-name titles be on the chopping block for 2007…? A couple excerpts from the report hint at this distinct possibility; check 'em out-

“Six franchises are now scheduled for release in 2007-08 (Brothers in Arms, Far Cry, Rayman Raving Rabbids, The Settlers, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell and an unannounced franchise), compared with the previously announced seven.”

“Three new brands are now scheduled for release in 2007-08 (Assassin's Creed, Haze, Tom Clancy's End War), compared with the previously announced six … the four games concerned will now strengthen Fiscal 2008-09."

Well, we honestly don't believe Assassin's Creed will slip to 2008, just because of all the advertising hype and interviews Ubisoft is giving the press. Heck, they just sent out that teaser e-mail with a date firmly attached to it, so perhaps this blockbuster is safe. Haze , on the other hand, is another question entirely. Early rumors say the team isn't far enough long in the development phase, and certain FPS-makers have run into problems on the PS3. Guess we'll just have to wait and see which games Ubisoft chooses to postpone.
