This probably isn't the gigantic announcement Capcom has promised everyone, but it's still big news nonetheless. According to GameSpot, the publisher has revealed that Bionic Commando , the classic side-scrolling action title that originally debuted back in 1988, is coming back! It will return as a next-gen title for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, but doesn't yet have an estimated release date.

Obviously, we'll be looking at a whole new generation of grappling fun; for those of you who don't know, you used a robotic "hook arm" of sorts in Bionic Commando to swing your way through each level. But this time around, that grappling hook for a hand will be multi-functional, as players will be able to use it to rappel down walls, nail enemies at close and long range, and even toss stuff at enemies! Oh, and the storyline will undergo a significant change as well, as Nathan Spencer finds himself on death row after faithfully serving his country. Yup, he was framed. And he's going to have to maneuver through a futuristic environment to clear his name, one that will offer plenty of grappling opportunities.

Capcom has enlisted the help of an American producer, a Japanese creative adviser, and GRIN, a Sweden-based studio. We'll be anxiously awaiting to hear more about this one, because…well damn, it's Bionic Commando !
