For whatever reason, we've been noticing a recent trend of European magazines kinda getting the jump on everyone else when it comes to high-profile reviews. We saw it with Heavenly Sword and several others in recent memory, and it has happened again: UK publication PSM3 has apparently been given a world exclusive review of Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction for the PS3. And they're plenty happy with the final product.
It seems GamesRadar has already seen this review, and while they won't reveal the exact score, they do say PSM3 awarded the next-gen Ratchet with a "90%-plus score" and that the game actually taps the PS3's "monstrous potential." At this point, PSM3 is the only gaming publication – traditional or online – that has reviewed this title, and everyone will get a chance to see it when the latest issue goes on sale this Thursday. In the meantime, though, they did provide us with a few choice quotes from the review:
"…a truly stunning game to see in motion."
"…almost needlessly packed with rich ambient detail."
"…you'll grin with enormous satisfaction at the phenomenal bang-per-buck results."
"…a first party title that will set your PS3 alight."
Granted, it's only one review, but you know what? None of us expected any less. Has there ever been a Ratchet and Clank title (sans the spin-offs) that wasn't excellent? Nope. So none of us are surprised, but it's nice to have some early indication. You can pick up a free playable demo of Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction when you pre-order the game at GameStop, or you can wait until October 4 when the demo pops up on the PlayStation Store. The final version is due out October 23.
